“Lots of little upscale shops.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

A little different than most of the tourist shopping areas. Plenty of restaurants. Also if you knit, the area to buy yarn and needles is close by.

“Below expectation”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

The initial idea was good. To transfer the crowds from Xintiandi by developing another " traditional Shanghainese alleys" spot. Souvenirs are on the overpriced side while there isn't a lot of creativity seen. There are so many restaurants / cafes but very few good ones, except for Dan's cafe and Origin.

“1 cool road alright!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

with various bars & restaurants... Taikang Rd makes for 1 of the best bar districts in China.

With countless restaurants in Tianzifang (the actual districts name) you'll be bound to find anything from great Indian to awesome Mongolian cuisines all just around the corner..

Bars wise, Tianzifang has quite a lot to offer... I could make a list but i'll just type 2 of my favourites: 1) Bell Bar - consisting of a 1st & 2nd floor, Bell Bar has an AWESOME happy hour going from 5 til 8 on all cocktails. 2) Kommune - They have a weekly free wine tasting & a great breakfast.. as well as original cocktails.

... There is also this place called "Modern Toilet" ... but I'll let you guys go check that 1 out for yourselves if you ever manage to come to Shanghai..

“Lively street life away from the centre”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

It's not to do with the shops - just the life that is going on around you. You can walk up and down here and see couples young and old out on their dates - or groups of friends in lively debate. If you head off the street - all sorts of wonders can be found

“Fun and different”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

A very pleasany break from the typical malls we find in all citiies. This little alley is full of great art, cute trinkets and unique cosy restaurants. We enjoyed half the day here and plan to come back. Be ready to bargain big. Good deals are awaiting in Taikang Lu. The Propaganda store was really cool.
