Pho Real may be the best Vietnamese restaurant in Shanghai. It's certainly the best lunch in the French Concession. Located on Fumin Road, opposite the blue-painted shop called Madame Mao's Dowry, Pho Real specializes in set meals of -- as the name suggests -- either Pho or Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwiches, accompanied by the tastiest spring rolls you've ever had. Served with fresh mint, fresh basil, and a slice of lime, everything is spot on in taste and excellent value at 50-60 yuan for a set lunch. I ate there 3 or 4 times with different friends, every one of whom loved it. We tried the full menu and there wasn't a single false note. The restaurant is small, so get there a bit early or late if you want to be sure of a table.
