Took the kids and they really enjoyed it and want to go again. It also seems and feels safer than other attractions in Shanghai too. They are improving it too as Disney is coming to Shanggai soon!! Cost is 200 CNY per adult and if your child is above 1.2 metres then I think it is half price.

The place is located near to Metro line 9 and provides a shuttle bus to take you to the park. It has nice coasters and is overall a nice place to spend a weekend day with the kids. There is a Pizza Hut inside the park among other eateries. We purchased a year pass which may be difficult for you to do if you do not speak Mandarin. I would recommend taking a native speaker with you if you plan on doing this. Good value on the year pass.

You can easily go there by subway (line 9), then with a free shuttle to the park (take the pedestrian bridge above the road. It takes about 45 min from town). The park itself is quite nice with enough to please youngest kids to extreme roller coaster fans. Some KFC and Pizza Hut around if you are not sure about the local snacks. Staff do not really speak English but are nice and friendly (souvenir shops sellers are a bit pushy though).
Went during a cold but sunny weekday and park was not so busy.
Overall we spent a good day of fun, if you want a day out of town for your kids this place is recommended.

Sometimes there business is very weak and sometimes is hot. If you have heart attack, I suggest you should avoid playing Diving Coaster, so scary, and I still can recall that situation. When you reach the top, suddenly you feel the machine stop for a 3 second and there is no way to go except dropping. You have no time to think, then you drop. If you are adventurous, its a must for you.

Very close to Shanghai and easily accessible by subway, Happy Valley is a good choice for a weekend get-away from the city. For 200 RMB, you get access to the park with all the rides included. However, the crowds are a turn-off as you can spend hours waiting or a ride. It is your standard amusement park, more catered to older kids as most rides require a height of 1.2 mts minimum. There is a section for the younger ones, Ant Kingdom, and my son of 5 had a blast!
A trick for the return trip by subway: at the station of line 9, take the first train opposite direction to downtown Shanghai, get off first station and catch the next train direction Shanghai. This way you have better chance to get a seat on the train without the pushing with the crowds.
