Upon entering the room, all looked very nice. The decor was a bit dated but still quite nice. However, numerous things detracted quickly from my experience. The first were little things like the lack of sugar or sweeteners in the room for the tea. It might not be common to use sugar in tea in China but as a foreigner, it would have been nice. This was also one of those rooms that turned off all electricity to the room unless the key was in the slot next to the door. Normally, this is not a big deal. However, considering it was winter, the heat also did not work. Therefore, the room was always cold when I came in at the end of the day. Heating the room took some time and the worse part was that the heat turned off at midnight. Therefore, if you got back into the room late, as was often the case, there was not enough time to heat up the room before it turned off. The room stayed cold all night. Luckily the bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was quiet so I slept well once I bundled up. The breakfast was probably fine for the average Chinese traveler but might seem lacking for Europeans or Americans. The coffee was luke warm to cold and was not good at all. Actually, a few days we had breakfast at the Starbucks that is very close. Not a great breakfast but at least the coffee was hot and decent. The staff was helpful enough but only a few could speak decent English. Overall I was not satisfied.More
