Its worth doing the trip abd at RMB 100, it's not too expensive. Our boat had no commentary and was not very clean or welcoming. Interesting to see the city from the river, but glad it was only 1 hour.

The Huangpu River is very romantic at night. You can take a cruise among the many ferry boats that traverse Pudong and Puxi, or simple go to THE BUND and watch the lights dance before your eyes in the Riverside View area. There are entrepreneurs who can take your photo with the Pudong area as background for 30-40 RMB. Strolling along the riverside is also very cozy after a hectic day of business and shopping. It's very relaxing there especially when you visit it in Autumn where the air is cool and not humid. Words are not enough ... go to Shanghai to experience it !

We thought the river itself was lovely. We had walked the Bund by day and because it was misty/smoggy thought we might not see anything at night. We were wrong. The cruise itself was okay - but as it was included with our Big Bus Tour pass that was acceptable. We were given a soft drink and a plate of nibbles as part of the ticket. Nothing to write home about but pleasant enough. There was only a small exterior deck - with some shelter but not wonderful in the rain. Inside there were tables downstairs but we braved the rain because the views were wonderful. The buildings along both sides and many of the boats were lit up with strings of lights. The nightscape was a real contrast to the day vista. We would certainly recommend a visit to the river during the day and at night. In the daytime barges move along the river and you get a sense of the busy port city that is Shanghai. At night the atmosphere changes and feels like a magic place. That made the ordinariness of the tour boat acceptable and it was the only way we were going to find an affordable cruise in the short time we had. So all good. Important to find out where the entry to the boats are ahead of time as the entrance is quite a long way down the Bund and on the street side at street level not on the upper level. People were helpful and directed us though.

Went on the night time cruise to accompany friends. The cruise itself was ok. The Bund at night is not a pleasant place. Couldn't wait to get back to the hotel!

.. I think the Hiuangpu is 1 of the main things sets me off from going to the bund so often. The water is vile.. but it surely isn't the worst river in China. All i can say is that it top off the view & I would rather die than jump in those waters..
