“Nice for kids - a bit worn”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2012

A bit worn smaller-wild-animal museum, featuring much more than insects (e.g. a goat !?!). Not bad for small kids, though - and rather fast, if you wish for it to be so.

“For fans of insects only”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2011

The Insect Kingdom is not as modern or updated as the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. However, for the relatively low entrance and convenient location(near the Shanghai Pearl), it's worth a visit for those with kids or who LOVE insects. There are plenty - and there's a short fun show (in Mandarin) which is quite entertaining. There are exhibits of reptiles (incl tortoises) and you can feed the fish, chinchillas, little goats and rabbits. Not the most clean or modern of places (in terms of deco, upkeeping) but wholesome and educational fun for those with kids.

“Terrible - cruely to animals”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2011

We visited with our kids aged 11 and 9. It was dreadful: smelly, hot with tiny enclosures for the insects, reptiles and amphibians. Some of the turtles could barley turn around, and insects were in tiny cages within glass cabinets. A wading pool enables kids to terrify goldfish by allowing them try to net them. Avoid

“Lovely 2 hours for the kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2010

This is a little gem between the Pearl TV tower and the Huangpu cruise boat (kids walking distance to both). My 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son had a great time feeding the golden carpfish on the pond walkway, then feeding the rabbits and guinea pigs further into the attraction. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but there's a whole treasure trove of sights and information inside - it's certainly not just restricted to insects! There's a nice gift shop at the end where you can get the Chinese equivalent of Lego for a fraction of the price - my son's loving his pirate ship...
