“Amazing but So is a lot of Hotels in Shanghai”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

Stayed here two Times and by far this is a First Class hotel in terms of service the rooms are breath taking the signature scent that you small as soon as you enter the lobby, but for the same price you can find better hotels in Shanghai, which is an issue for me since if im paying +400 US per night i expect to be getting top notch service which you get but there is some things you need to put into consideration:

1. Location is a problem getting out and in the area, since a lot of taxis refuse getting you out of the area due to traffic.

2. the hotel car service is 10 times other hotels and with a very bad service, for instance i rented a car to Huzhou which is an hour drive by car for around 3200 RMB, while you can get it from other companies for around 1000 RMB, and the car was very dirty and smelly and not what i paid for, but never the less for the non business traveler it shouldn't be an issue.

3. The hotel is next to IFC mall which is a bonus since there is the best restaurants in Shanghai and you can do a lot of shopping.

in General its an amazing hotel but not perfect...

I think this wins hands down for me for 2012, park hyatt being a close 2nd coz' i like the style of park hyatt better.

But this is very flamboyant while Park hyatt feels more modern and cold (which i kinda like).
Where this hotel shines is in the bar on the top floor is simply amazing with the best rooftop view of the city, the breakfast buffet is great with a lot of choices. the spa is luxurious, the infinity pool that goes all the way to the edge of the window is breath taking, the professional service of the concierge staff and front desk. It really wins.
beneath the hotel is the IFC mall....which has a amazing collection of restaurants and stores. I really enjoyed this place better than most areas because of the restaurants below.

only negative is the toilet....i wish they installed TOTO automatic toilets like most highend places or even boutique hotels....

Also, in most of these highend chains...they never give out free wifi...

aside from these 2 things....i still love this hotel and will definitely come back.

Room Tip: go visit the rooftop bar!

This hotel is just all around great. The price might be high but so worth if if you are looking for a luxury stay. I came here on business and stayed at this hotel for a week and 1/2. Usually that much time at one hotel will expose any weakness or shortcomings as minor as they may be. Not the case here. Great food in the restaurant, friendly service, responsive. Ritz should be proud of this one.

Room Tip: The Chinese breakfast options in the hotel are awesome!

Everything about this hotel is superior +. Friendly competent staff, gorgeous rooms with luxury amenities, fantastic pool/spa, knowledgeable and helpful concierge, good business center, marvelous food presentations on the club-level floor, and a chic roof bar (Flair) where the hostess provides coats to patrons on cold evenings. I can't say enough about this property or its people. If shanghai hadn't beckoned outside, I might have just stayed in! An oasis in every respect.

The hotel is just great which deserve the name of Ritz. I just want to share 2 information.
1. Remember to have a drink in the Flair, no bar could reach a comparable level in Lujiazui area, maybe even in Shanghai (Also recommend the VUE bar in Hyatt on the Bund)
2. If you book a bund view category, try to ask for rooms XX17 or XX18, These room are more spacious .

If this comment could reach management team, I have a really important complaint. Why not move the smoking area a little bit closer to the main entrance, better with some heating equipment in winter. It is really not convenient to smoke in the original place.

Enjoy Shanghai, the best city in the world.

Top location, one of the best interior design, fantastic view to the tower, river, surrounds. The rooms are perfectly designed and spacious. You can see the city from the bath. Very good breakfast. Local staff are great: very helpful, trying to predict your wishes, doing their responsibilities professionally. They are upgrading the restaurant, will see how good it is.
The price for such a place is really good.

Room Tip: Ask with the tower view.
