Without doubt one of the best designed and run hotels I in China.
On the one hand, Hotel Indigo is very well appointed. The location is excellent, with impressive views down the river, to the Bund, and across to Pudong. The rooms are stylish and comfortable (this is the feel all those 'boutique' hotels are trying to achieve). The breakfast is superb, and the staff all well trained.
But its the thoughtful little details that make this hotel stand out. The 'Japanese breakfast' came presented in a layered wooden box. The wifi coverage is free, and it's the same network through the hotel, so you're not constantly logging in and out. The massage chairs in the lounge. They even had that critical little white cable to link a MacBook Air to the projector in the meeting room.
This is the kind of hotel that if, like Van Halen, you'd asked them to provide a bowl of M&M's with the brown ones taken out, they would have done it. Full marks.
