“Overpriced tourist-trap”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

We came here with a family of 6, got a very nice menu with some lovely pictures and English text.
We ordered several dishes and some rice. We never got the rice..
Half of the dishes were only mildly warm and tasted terrible. The soup was sour and to cover this up they used a ton of salt. The dishes didn't have anything to do with the pictures and all tasted below any standard. Our worst experience yet!
When we got the bill (first we got a wrong one) we even had to pay extra for the wet paper towel that was on the table and the tea they offered.
Overall a terrible experience and an overpriced tourist trap. Don't go there!

“Good food bad service”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

I found this restaurant by chance I given it a try since most of the customers were Chinese. The restaurant is clean , the food is good and serverbed in big portions. The service is very bad and not customer oriented. no-one speaks English therefore it is easy to get things you do not want. The waiters seems not interested and sometime you feel like to be a burden for them. The food is good though and it deserves to give it a try.

“Tasty Treats on Huanghe Food Street”
Reviewed October 8, 2009

You won't recognize Qian Long Mei Shi from its name unless you can read Chinese, as there are no signs in English, but as you go down Huanghe Street, you will be hustled into places like Yue Li Restaurant with very big lighted signs that are easy to spot. Ignore the hustler, and go very fast to the other side of the street, and you'll see Qian Long Mei Shi - it is red in decor with red lanterns out front and a red sign. There will probably be ladies standing by the door in traditional dress. Located next to a hotel.

We were the only Westerners in the restaurant, but it was filled with Chinese, appeared to be very popular. There were lots of exotic dishes on the menu if you're looking for some type of internal organs or duck heads, and quite a few more low-key dishes too. We tried some type of pork wrapped in rice paper that looked gross on the menu, but in fact was really tasty. The other dishes we had were very good as well, great flavor, fresh and well cooked. Service was impeccable, and one staff member spoke a few words of English, so he was assigned to our table. The decor was nice and light, with fresh seafood available. It was a bit spendy for a local restaurant, but worth it. There are large live seafood tanks where you can pick your own fish, crab, lobster, etc. This is a nice place, I'd eat here again if back in Shanghai.
