Description: Mr & Mrs Bund – Modern Eatery by Paul Pairet. A modern French eatery. Relaxed chic atmosphere, heritage Bund location.Mr & Mrs Bund is French, in the manner of Chef Paul Pairet: born, traveled, and globally stamped. Contemporary, but not stuffy. Relaxed, without sacrificing an ounce of chic. We serve populist French favorites, through Pairet's looking glass. Service is family-style, recast for a modern table, and the wine list includes 32 wines by the glass. We riff on classics, we dish up comfort cuisine, and we serve it just like you would Sunday night dinner – sharing-style, and with plenty for seconds. It's a straightforward menu that takes simple French classics to start, and then let you add and play. Mash-ups: not just for potatoes and DJs anymore. Hours: Dinner: 5:30pm to 10:30pm (Monday to Sunday); Late Night Supper: 11:00pm to 2:00am (Thursday to Saturday)Accolades: No.43 in 2013 & No. 76 in 2014 by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants & 51-100 list; No.7 in 2013 & No.11 in 2014 by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants

Terrific dinner, nice location.
The food was very good, the service was a little aloof.
The order the food was brought out was a little off.

Thank mikegol

After 10 years in Shanghai, soon to be moving on, Mr & Mrs Bund has a firm place on our Shanghai bucket list for a final visit before we depart. Pairets menu is a delight and it does take some concerted effort to finally decide what to order, but our favourites are the picnic chicken, amazingly juicy and tender, and the home smoked salmon, expertly carved at the table. You can burn a serious hole in your pocket if you use the wine dispenser card system, but overall the food is good value given the very high quality and excellent service.

I had high expectations prior to visiting this restaurants as there were so many great reviews about it. Service was so-so with visitors speaking english seemed to got ushered to tables sooner. Atmosphere was chatty and a little noisy at times. Food was a mixture, with some good and some great. We also tried the lemon and lemon tart which was special. The view from the terrance is the highlight of this restaurant.

Every time I come here it's always a great experience and you get a great sense of arrival as soon as you enter through the "Front Door"! The restaurant layout itself moves away from the bland, rather orthodox line of tables you so often find in places, and moving across the room and being shown to your table, you cannot escape the imposing views of the Pearl Tower and adjacent architectural skyline of Pudong bearing down on you. There's some wonderful touches with the food, and the menu itself always seems extensive, and the bread presentation placed on the table always makes you delayed in deciding what to eat...the breads presented in a copper pot along with accompaniments are just so yummy! As I said, there are some wonderful touches in the menu, and some supported by modern twists on classic dishes and service. For example, the Pate de Campagne comes to your table as a whole in a Le Creuset saucepan with lid and is then sliced from a gueridon side table and is really charming and very tasty! But there are many other touches too, all waiting to be experienced! I've always found every dish to be great...never any disappointments! The wine list is presented on an iPad...nothing new these days really, but it was disappointing on this night (14 March 2014) that quite a number of the (mid-priced) wines were "Out of Stock"...but admittedly there are plenty of other choices, especially at the higher end levels. If you are entertaining colleagues or having a business entertainment dinner - as I was on this occasion - and you want to ensure that both your Chinese and Foreign guests enjoy your carefully chosen wines to accompany each of their dishes/courses, this may mean that you decide to choose more than one wine label per course...in other words, a fruitier-style white wine for your Chinese guests and a drier-style white for your Foreign guests - just for appetizer courses...and then different varietals for reds for the main courses...just to make the whole occasion more personalized. I found the wine list a bit lacking in fruitier-style white wines which I found a bit surprising but beyond this, as our table comprised 6 guests, we did suffer from having too many different service staff visiting and interacting with our table. They all meant well, but unfortunately communication between them was severely lacking, and consequently wines were poured incorrectly into my guests glasses...some got literally mixed together (eg one white varietal poured into a different white varietal). This put me into the position of having to take control of the situation and insisting that only one person actually poured the wines - to get it right! Once this had been accomplished (and it did not get achieved instantaneously) everything else went according to plan :-) I only mention this aspect, not so much as a negative, but just as a tip to you, to get this fixed with the service team in advance of any wine service. A really nice place...brisk service...yummy food, and overall, a wonderful experience!

Had a business dinner here with 4 associates. We ordered a set menu (approx. 590 RMB per person) which was recommended by the wait staff. Was an excellent recommendation as the menu had a variety of starters, main courses and desserts. Food was expertly prepared and high quality with the seafood dishes worth a special mention. Wine list extensive and also quite pricey.Would recommend the caberent from So. Africa as a good quality and value. Worth a visit but be aware of cost as well.
