Description: Mr & Mrs Bund – Modern Eatery by Paul Pairet. A modern French eatery. Relaxed chic atmosphere, heritage Bund location.Mr & Mrs Bund is French, in the manner of Chef Paul Pairet: born, traveled, and globally stamped. Contemporary, but not stuffy. Relaxed, without sacrificing an ounce of chic. We serve populist French favorites, through Pairet's looking glass. Service is family-style, recast for a modern table, and the wine list includes 32 wines by the glass. We riff on classics, we dish up comfort cuisine, and we serve it just like you would Sunday night dinner – sharing-style, and with plenty for seconds. It's a straightforward menu that takes simple French classics to start, and then let you add and play. Mash-ups: not just for potatoes and DJs anymore. I always like to come here with my husband during the week for lunch. When we have important customers in town we also take them here. The location is really nice, the view of the northern part of the Bund and Pudong simply stunning. They have a great set menu with many options to choose from. Two courses for 200rmb and three courses for 250rmb, 50rmb per glass of house wine. Their house wine is usually good value for money as all the rest. If you order a large bottle of sparkling water you get two coffees at the end of the meal all for 100rmb. I can particularly recommend the foie gras crumble, cesar salad or beef carpaccio for starters. For main course it's the black cod in a bag, signature dish or the garlic frog (no bones) which I personally find quite special. We have been coming here for lunch regularly for over a year and the quality and service are consistently good. Very recommendable.

Wow - we are SO glad we decided to come to Mr. and Mrs. Bund - it was an excellent dining experience. I HIGHLY recommend you make reservations before hand. We didn't and couldn't get in for dinner, but the conceirge at our hotel made us a late lunch reservation and we lucked out with a coverted window seat. WOW! The views of Pudong and the Bund are AMAZING. Definately try to get a window seat if you can - the restaurant is quite large so some of the tables are much further back towards the kitchen bar area and would IMO make the views less impressive.

There are also 2 terraces on either side of the restaurant and a wrap around balcony - we went out and took pictures - but would be nice for a pre-meal cocktail.

When we went there had a special pre-fix meal for lunch or for late night dining (11pm and after - yes I believe they are open to 4am - excellent!). It was either $200 RMB or $250 RMB depending on how many courses you wanted - wine was also on special for $50 RMB and it was very tasty! This is a substantial savings over the regular menu - which is quite pricey.

From the outside of the building you cannot tell the restaurant is there - in fact we walked by it the day before we ate there and didn't know where it was. It is up on the 5th (?) floor. There is also a night club on the top (6th floor).

The wait staff was attentive and knowledgable. The choices on the pre-fix menu were extensive and all explained to you. They start off the meal with the best baked bread. We both had the black cod in a bag for the entree - excellent! The presentation was great and the food even better. For dessert the molten chocolate cake was divine.

All and all the best meal we had in China.

This restaurant is especially recommended if you are in the mood for a good piece of meat. I have been there several times and was never disappointed. The kitchen is consistently good and the wine selection is excellent. In terms of wine, note that they have a "portion dispenser" as well. This is good fun for a group (where tastes are different) and it allows one to sample different wines before making a choice (be aware that even the small portions are chargeable; I do not want to create the impression that this is a good place for free wine tasting!).

On top of all the goodness that comes out of the kitchen, this restaurant has a spectacular view of the Bund and pretty much the full panorama of Pudong. It is worth making your booking early so that you get a window seat, and when it isn't too cold I recommend coming 30 minutes early to enjoy a drink on one of the two terraces (which - oddly - never seem to be used much, except for the occasional guest venturing out to snap a few panorama shots).

All in all, a "must go" place for every foodie visiting Shanghai.
