They aren't bad.. aren't the best neither. 12 rmb will get you 8 of them..

There isn't really a vast variety of dishes to choose from, they offer a pretty bad wonton soup & a ridiculous "curry" beef noodle soup, that's OK..

Best way to eat them: seal your mouth round the top, make a tiny hole with your teeth, and suck the juice out. If you just bite them, juice can fly into your neighbour's face!

Yang's at the Wujiang Rd shop was excellent and fun. Line up to buy what you want, then take your ticket and line up to receive it at the other little window. Then, if you are eating in, find a seat. You may have to wait. Once seated, eat up and leave so the next person has a chance. This is not a place to linger, it's a place to suck down some dumplings and get back on the street.

It's very cheap. 24 dumplings was 36 kuai and that kept 4 of us more than happy. Yummy, fresh, full of soupy juice.

It's not 5 star, it's real. Enjoy it for what it is. I've given it 4 for atmosphere because it is pleasantly rowdy, not because it has white linen table cloths and jazz muzak (it doesn't).

Yangs Fried Dumpling are great. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The first couple are tricky to eat but after about 10 you will get the hang of it. Trust me you will want at least10!!

Yangs is very much a locals spot but they do have an English menu. Some English is also spoken.

Pay at the counter, pick your dumplings up at the opposite window and enjoy!!!

Well, we might be wrong, but we honestly consider these dumplings not better then any other fried-dumplings that you might find anywhere in Shanghai. We have tried Yang's stuff in several different places (and on the streets as well) and they taste pretty much the same. Certainly not a culinary shock.

I love the dumplings here. I found this place accidently on my first day in Shanghai, using my rule that if its busy and people are willing to wait then whats getting served at the front of the que, must be worth the wait. On this first visit i was a bit confused because you pay first and then you que again to give your receipt to the cook before taking a seat on one of the crowded and dumpling 'juice' covered tables. When the dumplings arrived being then a very inexperienced dumpling eater I picked 1 up and took an eager bite. What followed this first bite was a combination of pleasure, pain and pure joy, the scaulding soup squirted up all over my nose and all over the guy sitting next to me much to his amusement and to the horror of my poor nose. This soup as misdirected as it was, tasted incredible and the meat inside tender and perfectly seasoned. The soiled guy next to me after he cleaned up his shirt then showed me the proper way to eat these dumplings. The next one was devoured as follows, 1. wait 5 mins after the dumpings have arrived at your table. 2. nibble a small corner off the side 3. gently suck out the delicous soup 4. stuff the rest in your mouth. 5. repeat steps 1-4 untill full and do it often.

Price: 6 yuan for 4 dumplings
