A must to be tried for the visitors. Very good value for money and typical Shanghainese street food.

One of my favorite places in Shanghai. US $1 for 4 huge pork dumplings. US $1 for large bowl of pork wonton soup. Clean and tasty. They speak very little English, so I pointed and used fingers to indicate what I wanted. 5 minute walk from People's Square/Park.

I'm loving those steam/pan seared dumplings. I have never tasted anything like them. They were hot, juicy, quite sizeable and flavorful. You must take a small bite first or the juice will go everywhere. I liked the fact that the dumpling itself wasn't doughy like some of the buns but the same size as the buns. And super cheap street type eats in a tray so you can eat on the go!

Be sure to come at an odd hour because the line can be pretty long here. No one speaks English either so just point to what you want. Soups and of course the fried dumplings are excellent. They're huge though so don't over order. It's also very cheap at about RMB10 (about $1.50) per person. Be ready to jockey for a table though people will right by your shoulder when you are eating to make sure they get the table when you leave.
