I stayed here for 2 nights in a deluxe double. The size of the room was absolutely astounding. This has to be one of the e best hotels I have ever stayed in. The bedroom is enormous which leads a lobby. Off the lobby is a dressing area which also joins the bathroom. The bathroom has a shower, separate full size bath, 2 vanities and a separate toilet room. Huge plasma TV in the bedroom and another one at the end of the bath which is smaller. Room has a Nespresso machine also. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: I think every room in this hotel is great but if you are lucky you might get a river view room.

Wow. I arrived very late and was checking out and leaving again a few hours later early the next morning. While checking in they realized I had no luggage and I explained the airline had lost it. They insisted on taking a copy of lost luggage paperwork and said they would follow up. I told them it was looked after but they insisted. I checked out early the next day and left for another city staying in a different hotel, not Peninsula as the city I went to did not have a Peninsula. Even though I had departed, for 4 days they kept chasing my bag for me and sending me email updates and assisted in having it delivered to the other town I was at. They were fantastic!

I wish I had more time at this hotel as the decor was first class and the service was amazing. I highly recommend it.

This place was just amazing. Our room was huge and had everything you never thought you needed! The staff were exceptional and really went out of their way. The restaurants and bars were fantastic, I could not fault it in any way. Pure luxury.

We stayed a week at Peninsula Shanghai and couldn't have been more pleased. The room was incredible, beyond all expectations. Every day we snacked on the daily fruit platter in our room, worked out and swam in the beautiful gym, and took daily runs or strolls along The Bund. This hotel is close to everything, including some excellent restaurants. We Highly recommend this hotel!

We had a wonderful time in the Peninsula Shanghai and couldn't recommend it higher. Couple the fact that its service is impeccable, its location perfect, and rooms beautiful with the fact that it is much more reasonably priced than Peninsula's in other towns (of course it's still expensive), then it is a great opportunity to experience a great Peninsula hotel. It's a far more intimate experience than Peninsula's in other cities, in many ways it feels like it is almost a boutique hotel, but that's a positive in a city as large and busy as Shanghai.

A few highlights:
- Location: I can't tell you how great it was to roll out of bed in the morning and stroll along the Bund
- Roof bar: a great view, outdoor space and relaxing experience
- Salon de Ning: amazing decor, wish it were a little more "hopping" but really cool
- Lunch in the lobby
- Unlimited international calling and wifi in the room - a GREAT feature that more luxury hotels should adopt

No real negatives - would say that breakfast is a bit smaller (all menu-based) than the big buffets you might get in a Peninsula in Bangkok or elsewhere, but that's not a real complaint.

All in all, one of the best city hotels in the world and if we go back to Shanghai we will stay there in a heartbeat.

Well, what can I say? Everything was just perfect. We got an upgrade to a fantastic suite with breathtaking views over Pudong. The suite itself was beautifully appointed with really cool amenities, including a nail dryer... Every detail is perfect. Actually, I have never seen a hotel with such attention to details. For example, when you dim the lights and put music in the bathroom, it automatically turns on the privacy sign. It's a small thing, but the accumulation of these small things is what makes the Peninsula special.

Then, there is the service. It is just flawless, from the doorman to the concierge, to waiters, to the check in process. We had dinner at the Chinese restaurant (fantastic), drinks in the rooftop bar (amazing) and late night drinks in Salon de Ning, the really cool trendy bar in the basement with live music.

The spa is also really recommended. The only hotel I visited that came close was in Bangkok: the Peninsula... There is something really special about that chain and the way they treat their guests that I have found in no other five star hotel in the world. Congratulations for a fantastically well-managed hotel and special thanks to Katja, the hotel manager.

Great classic hotel just behind the Bund. Fabulous quiet room with desk sitting room area dressing room and bathroom with spa mood lighting and music. Close to all the best fine dining restaurants so didn't eat in. Traditional afternoon tea in the lobby and a good bar. Perfect location for my business trip but would be equally good for a leisure break. Only slight quibble was the fact that we arrived early from an overnight flight and had to sit in the lobby for 2 hours until our rooms were available.
