One of the first hostels in China and I booked through hostelbookers.com and I was a little bit skeptic, if the description in the internet is trustful. Yes, it was and we were happy that the pictures in the internet also didn't lie.
The hostel is not so close to the center but the subway station is about 5-8 minutes away and with the subway it's easy and fast to go to the center.
The area is quiet, the yard inside of the hostel is very peaceful and has an warm atmosphere to hang around there.
The room is also warm, the bed is simple, like you know the style from grandma ;-) It was very comfortable and I had a very good sleep! The bathroom was ok, it was clean but you should not look closer how something is fixed. The bathroom has milk glass and partly clear glass walls, but you are protected. It depends with whom your are travelling, with my boyfriend it didn't matter!
I can recommend this hostel for those who wants to live in a cosy atmosphere for not too much money! Good quality for this price!!!

Booked for a couple of nights as I had to extend my stay and there was little available at short notice for the weekend so I booked the Naza.

Bar was closed during my stay, and the cafe/chill area was being renovated and therefore was a bit if a building site

This combined with an uncomfortable bed and poor service, not a good stay.

The hostel is close to the subway (Dalian Road, Line 4). The room service is ok - the staff speaks English, Wi-Fi signal is good (it's best to get a local carrier SIM-card), they come to take garbage bags and even replaced towels. Don't expect anything extraodinary in the decor of the rooms, quite plain, but single and double rooms have non-shared bathrooms, stayed for 7 nights and never had any problems with hot water. Never seen any foreigners staying either, only Chinese. Moisture smell in the lobby and halls might disturb some people, it didn't disturb me so my stay was perfectly fine. Rooms are small but it makes it easier to warm it up when it's cold (I was afraid that it will be too cold in the room but it was fine, just kept the temperature high all the time). Proximity to most of the sights makes it even more attractive. For people who don't care about interior design and want to save money it's a perfect place. There is a mall near the place so there is no problem where to eat (McDonalds, Starbucks, Chinese restaurants, TESCO supermarket).

Room Tip: Single rooms don't look like in the picture, so don't expect anything fancy

This was our first hostel in China and it was a really nice place the only problem you might have is the glass door of the bathroom, Nice staff and very clean rooms and not far away from the next metrostation.

The staff are friendly, but they are bad english speakers. For us, this resulted into getting wrong information more than one time. I guess they try, but they might just not get you and say something completely different.

The rooms are smelly (at least in the first floor). It is a basement, and it smells like a bad one. The AC was supercold, with no possibility of making a comfortable temperature.

Bathrooms are not to clean... But not very bad either.

The location is pretty good. There is a metro station 3-5 mins away. There is a nightmarket nearby, and several supermarkets (ie 7/11).

The cafe is nice. Cosy. Food is good. But the slush/yougurtslush consist only of ice. DO not have one. Coffee is good.

Look for other alternatives before picking this hostel. There is several good ones in Shanghai.
