“Met all our expectations”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

We booked this hotel on the strength of the reviews in Tripadvisor and it met all our expectations. The location is fabulous. We splurged and booked a River View Suite as we were staying 5 nights and it was our first time to Shanghai. The view was spectacular and we even timed our visit with the cleaning of the external windows which made for even better photographs! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The standouts are definitely the front desk staff who could not do enough to help you and the boutique nature of the hotel meant that you received personalised service. A few of the reviewers had commented on the air-conditioning in the rooms and this is one of only a few minor criticisms we had. They really need to do something about this! We like others, had to open our windows to cool the room down at night which meant that we could hear some of the road noise. We were on the 19th floor and did at times hear a little bit of the music from the bar upstairs but this didn't impact us. The service from the breakfast staff was a bit patchy and they seemed a little inexperienced, but this was a minor point. The location, boutique size, modern design and most of all fantastic front desk staff make this hotel a standout. We'll be back for sure.

We booked this hotel based on trip advisor ratings and we were certainly not disappointed. The service was warm and friendly. The room was small but was very comfortable and had an exquisite view. There were also a number of small touches in the room that made our stay even more pleasant. Thoroughly recommend this place.

This was my first stay at this hotel, but when my trip was extended I did not hesitate to stay on. The location is excellent - right on the Bund with fabulous river views, even from the bath.

The staff are very helpful and professional, yet friendly. There is a lovely library area with drinks and snacks as well as river view and the breakfast selection is large and varies day by day. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night which was also nice.

It is so nice to stay in a hotel that successfully combines boutique luxury with useful features -; paperclips & a mini stapler in the desk area; a multiplug arrangement so that you can plus your UK devices straight in; a fresh fruit bowl replenished daily; a razor with shaving mousse; copious supplies of bottled water;...

I wish that I had made this find earlier and will certainly be back should I find myself in Shanghai again

Room Tip: Lots of rooms have a river view which is well worth it!

My husband and I just returned from shanghai and a stay at this hotel. We were so impressed by all the staff especially Nicolas, Felix and Anna(?) the gorgeous lady who arranged a room upgrade and special cake for our anniversary. The location cannot be beaten and the views both day and night were spectacular. We loved the breakfast and the fabulous coffee machine in the room. Not one thing I would change!

Room Tip: Ask for upper room with view of Bund

It is located by The Bund, stone throw from the Ferry terminal that will take you to Pudong area, 2RMB. Concierge is really helpful at booking restaurant.
Two blocks away from Yuyuan Garden.
Four blocks from Nanjing Lu.
Super nice , cozy lounge with constant supply of coffee, teas, fruits and pastries.
Excellent breakfast spread, with both Western and Asian fares, including fresh yogurt and congee.
Room has very nice view, contemporary designs, very clean and plenty of closet space. King bed is more like Cal King.
Bathtub is luxurious.
No pool.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors >7 for better view

This was my third stay at the hotel. There is much to love about the place starting with an amazing location and the incredible views offered by the rooms. I have spent early mornings looking at people flying kites on the bund walkway on the river and the early morning joggers while the city is just waking. The enormity of the river and skyline as its backdrop is amazing. The hotel rooms vary in size but all seem to have views I have stayed in most of the room types except the suite. The rooms are very modern all electronic down to the shades. The tub is deep and long and you have a great shower as well. The service is tops. There is free tea in the lounge at certain times. Breakfast can be extensive but less of the typical western breakfast and more of a mix of Asian and western. To be honest I have not seen many people stay for dinner but you're on the bund enjoy the bund life and the multitude of restaurants nearby like walking distance. Lost heaven is down the second street as you walk to the left after exiting the hotel. Sun aqua Japanese restaurant is a leisurely stroll down the bund. Bar rouge is a bit further but you won't need a taxi. Across the river on the pudong side near the pearl tower are several mall complexes the one that does not contain Louis Vuitton has many many restaurants that are cheaper than the bund restaurants. One block behind the hotel you can find a small cafe selling tea coffe and good pastries and opposite this you can get a fried chicken sandwich from a small fast food fried chicken western type place. I really like this hotel it recharges me and relaxes me and allows you to be in a lovely part of the many lovely parts of the city. It has to be done.

I arrived early before the check-in time and the hotel staff were able to arrange a room for me to check in straight away. They were very helpful and accomodating. The room overlooked the bund with great views on clear days and had everything I needed, The bathroom was huge and the bath was placed directly in front of the window benefitting a great view and the walk in shower also very spacious. The guests lounge had free tea and coffee and sweet treats available all day which was a lovely touch.
The continental breakfast was plentiful and fresh. A great start to the day.
I stayed for 3 nights and this hotel was a pleasant oasis in the hustle off Shanghai. Great location, excellent staff and I highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the Bund
