This is a slightly idiosyncratic hotel, like so many boutique hotels these days. It has a range of room sizes and types, best of course are facing the Bund and the river, but small suites seem to be mainly at the rear. Slightly idiosyncratic room design, as the baths and bathrooms in the rooms we saw are situated at the front of the rooms where the best views are to be had!

Breakfasts are very good, served in a range of interconnected dining rooms on first floor. Many artifacts are on display, including ceramics, old radios, etc. Free coffee, tea and snacks are provided throughout the day in the lounge area just off the reception. The hotel staff are very good, pleasant, and helpful.

The chief feature of this hotel is its splendid location on the Bund, in close proximity to many shops and attractions, and restaurants such as M on the Bund (about 5 minutes' walk north). It's difficult to say if this is the "best" hotel in Shanghai, as it does not have some of the more "standard" features you'd get in the 5-star chain hotels that abound in the city. For example, the TV channels have a distinctly local feel, with relatively few international channels. There is a fitness room but, due to design/age of the building, there's no swimming pool. Room service is OK but not a very extensive menu, again due to relatively small size of hotel. But there is free wi-fi of reasonable speed throughout the hotel (each floor has its own access code). Very good coffee-making facilities (by an expresso machine) in each room. This hotel is certainly an interesting, fun experience for a few days and a very good hotel overall.

We came across a special deal on TravelZoo 6 months out from our trip and we were lucky enough to secure a Bund/river view room with all the trimmings for the most amazing price.
Check in was flawless and the service 10/10 every time.
The room was HUGE with massive bathroom, two separate wardrobes, bidet, bath and free wi-fi. The view from our windows was million dollar and we watched the Bund and Pudong transform from day to night.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant and we had access to a lounge whenever we chose too.
I'd certainly consider staying here again when i next visit Shanghai.

Room Tip: Book early and keep an eye out for special deals.

This is a tranquil oasis in the smoggy, busy city of Shanghai.

Perfectly located on the Bund, my room offered amazing views at night when all the lights of the city are on.

The service was excellent by all staff, with smiles every time you step back in. Breakfast was great, a chef waiting for your egg or omelette order made them perfectly and with a global banquet to choose from it was an excellent way to start your day.

Very fast Wi-Fi was accessible all through the hotel, and little additions like the lounge with teas and snacks is nice. The gym is little used be has a good selection of machines and space – well worth it after a long flight. The subway station is only about a 10-15 minute walk which is great for sightseeing and business.

An excellent hotel, with excellent service and I will definitely visit again when I am back in Shanghai

Very nice boutique hotel right off the Bund area.
Stayed there when it first opened up.

Location:
Great location, at the corner block, in the central Bund area in Puxi.
Very easy to get to major tourist attractions.
Subway is close by and taxis are easy to flag down.

Room:
Studio room is tiny, compared to other rooms of the same range in Shanghai.
The bathroom has an open view where you can see the Bund while showering or sitting on the throne. Unfortunately, the room also faces a business tower across the street!
Nice in-room coffee/tea and tv channels.
Cant remember about the internet.

Breakfast:
Breakfast is very nice with plenty of western options.
There is also chinese porridge and condiments as well.
The seating is quite unique as it is a big bench-type table.
Reminds me of the German beer house seating during Oktoberfest.

There is a sort of dance club or night club at the top of the building.
However, it wasnt noisy for me.

Service:
Service is quite good with professional staff and they were eager to help with the luggage.

Overall:
I would definitely consider staying there again.
The downside is the smallish room and the price, which had appeared to have gone up quite a bit since i last stayed there.

Room Tip: Get a room bigger than the studio room. Studio rooms are tiny.

Me and hubby stayed for 3 nights here. I can't think of any negative comment about this hotel. The view of the The Bund is amazing! Walking distance to Yu Garden. Hmm..the hotel is modern and clean, I like the overall interior design. ALL as in EVERYONE of the staffs are very courteous, polite and helpful. They speak good English, they are always willing to help you when you want to ask questions about going places, and suggestions, they even go out of their way to print out the map and call a taxi for you. The room has a free wifi, it is cozy, decorated with fresh flower on the desk, fresh fruits everyday, bed, linen and towels are very neat and clean, toiletries are complete. Flat screen tv in the bedroom and another one hanging on the bathroom wall just above the bathtub, the toilet seat (Toto brand) has an automatic bidet sprayer of lukewarm water for the front and for the rear, it was a blower/dryer too. Guess what? There is also an ironing board hidden in the closet matching with steam iron, I really needed that because of our wrinkled business suits. An illy coffeemaker even made the stay more fantastic. The breakfast is good. There is a 24 hr lounge for you to have cookies/pastries and coffee for free, computers with a printer. Taxi to the airport is around 1 hr for 185 yuan....ahh what else can you ask for?

Room Tip: our corner suite rm # 809 doesn't have a full view of the bund

We relied on the reviews of this hotel before booking and were not disappointed. The decor is ultra chic, the service excellent, the breakfast grand, and the location could not be better. The rooms are a bit on the small side but the windows open to the river and the bund so you can take a bath or sit on the toilet and be in direct contact with Shanghai. Of all of the hotels I know in the world (which is a lot of them) this ranks as one of the best. Highly recommend the suites orient in Shanghai.

What a surprise to find this beautiful and modern boutique hotel in Shanghai where luxury hotels tend to equate to XXIIIth century European style. This place is modern, well located right on the Bund affording amazing views. We found the service to be attentive and helpful (they even gave me a foldable fan on my way out because it was a very hot day!) although we later realized they somewhat forgot our welcome drink while everyone else seemed to be getting one at check-in. The only let down was breakfast: the coffee was awfully bitter no matter how much sugar I added, cheese were all from processed, sliced packs and it really lacked variety. Would definitely stay here again.
