“A great find!”
Reviewed April 29, 2011

Remarkable view of the waterfront! I stayed here for 5 nights in one of the Bund Suites and we were very impressed with the service especially the general manager Joseph when we checked in he just walked up to us introduced himself and even offered to help with our bags. The next night we saw him and he remembered my name. Very rare to have such service like that in China.

I definitely recommend this place. There's also a very swanky lounge hidden on the top floor, that wasn't advertised (as I think it's apart from the hotel) but we had drinks late into the night and watched beautiful people all night.

We stayed here twice. The first time for 5 nights on level 7 in a bund studio. Great room good view. Hotel staff were great and a very good breakfast. We liked it so decided to come back for our final 2 nights in china and booked a bund deluxe room. Room was great until night came. There is a club on the 23 rd floor and the noise reverberates throughout the top fllorrs of the hotel. It is unbearable and goes until past 2 am in the morning. We complained and were moved from level 22 to 19 to a suite room. Trouble is the noise still comes down to level 19! Apparantly the club is not connected to the hotel and there appears little they can do about it. So don't stay here on one of the top floors. Unfortunately the top floors have the best view of the bund.

Stunning location and try to get a Bund facing room. Zen like design knocks you out as does the friendliness of the reception team. The rooms are excellent (still jealous of my colleague's river view - I had a side road view!) . This hotel is excellent and the sometimes aching trend of the design is softened by a slight flakiness in the service in the restaurant - perfection in every detail would be too much to bear and they were charming in their readiness to apologise for the mixup. Breakfast very good and the head of reception could not have been more helpful. I would like this hotel to be my secret but it's too good not to share...

This is a very good hotel. New, modern, good amenities. Good breakfast, nice lounge area with snacks, computers. The bathrooms are very nice. The wood floors of our room were extremely slippery which was very strange and the internet was very slow as others have written before. Also, this hotel is missing a few things. First, there is no spa/spa services. There is a fitness center but it's a missing a few things like free weights and there are TVs on the equipment but I could not find any place for headphones so you have to hear everyone else's audio!? Also, the location is good for a view of the water but it's not the best location in Shanghai as others have written or even the best location on the Bund. Overall, a very good experience but don't expect everything!

We (two couples) had a wonderful, 5-day stay at this beautiful, new hotel with an unbeatable location. The breakfast spread was fantastic every morning, and there's a lounge with 24-hour coffee/tea/treats/books. The service was friendly and equal to a more expensive hotel. Decor is modern with great touches such as window shade and light control panels from the bed, extra TV over the bathtub, nice coffee/tea set-up in room, and an iPod docking station. The bed itself is very comfortable, in-room internet was free, and views of the Bund from the room were gorgeous, especially at night. This location also means great access to the restaurants on the Bund and strolls on its promenade. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Shanghai.

Room Tip: Ask for a view on the highest available floor.

Firstly, when you get out of the airport, make sure that you have the name of the hotel written in chinese for the cab driver. (Our first mistake). After a brief chat with his daughter, we were on our way!

The hotel is very stylish and offers a colonial feel, combined with modern elegance. The room was beautiful and had all we wanted. Deep spa, comfortable chairs and a huge bed. The breakfast was very good, with a combination of Eastern and Western food. There was also a beautiful lounge, we visited to pass the time of day, and a small but useful gym.

Staff were outstanding to deal with, patiently translating requests into chinese for the cab drivers.

And finally, as the title suggests, the location was perfect. We walked across to the Bund every morning and strolled alongf the banks of the river, admiring the locals (flying kites and exercising) as well as the spectacular city scape.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the Bund
