Tian Zi Fang is a charming little quarter in Shanghai with lots of small stores, many of them selling arts and crafts. Much nicer than the tourist traps around Yu Yuan.

Really loves the atmosphere. Typical almost like Nanjing Road but different kind of store, product, and view

There's a real bohemian feel to Tian Zi Fang with its shops and bars and restaurants. The alleys are narrow and winding so you never see to far. Plus the shops are interesting and it has a more genuine feel to it than XinTianDi.

This area of the city has lots of character...they have refurbished old style alley shops into a trendy shopping area fun for locals and tourists. There are lots of quirky boutiques and souvenir shops and several good restaurants. It is conveniently located near a subway stop.

Unlike the pearl market, most shops do not allow haggling. For some people, this is fine but for others it is a disappointment. If you want to haggle, I would suggest the pearl market.

If you're in Shanghai, make some time to visit Tian Zi Fang, you will not be disappointed!

I have been to this place twice now and love it. The quirky side alleys seeing how the Shanghainese people live is fabulous.
Just remember this is a tourist part of town, so bargain hard on the prices are they are set high.
There are great places to eat and shops filled with everything from the tackiest souvenir to a very expensive pair of handmade chopsticks.
If possible get there early to avoid the crowds.
