This tour provides a real insight into how the people of Shanghai start their day. Incredible array of street breakfast food to sample combined with a list to a local market and other points on interest. Highly recommend and very authentic!

Thanks for the memories and the food, Joyce! I had a great time and recommend this tour for others who want to try all the 'famous Shanghai items' while in town!

I took the evening food tour with my partner and the breakfast tour alone. They were both wonderful experiences. The evening tour takes place in the lovely French Concession area and focuses on traditional foods. What made the tour special was that these traditional food were made with very high-quality ingredients. We visited places where chefs were trying to reinvent or upgrade these dishes. It was delicious and a great deal of fun. The only downside was that there was a guide-in-training who would rudely talk while the real tour guide was explaining the history of the dish and its ingredients. The actual tour guide was wonderful and made sure we were all looked after.

I took the breakfast tour alone. It was a great deal of fun. We went to a very traditional, non-touristy part of Shanghai that I would not have venture don my own. Not because it was dangerous, but because no one spoke English. We went to a traditional apothecary and had a shot of snake juice. We ate several really tasty breakfast dishes. I loved them all. We also went to a lovely Buddhist temple. Another great tour.

Hi PickyP1969! Thanks for your review! We are sooo glad that you made it to both breakfast and evening tour to try out various food in different parts of Shanghai! It is absolutely true that fresh, top-quality ingredients play vital role in Shanghai cuisine; it's the secret to all the amazing dishes you tried on the tour!

And the breakfast tour in the old town of shanghai... such a cultural adventure right?! We understand it can be a little nerve-wrecking to go into a very local restaurant as a foreigner, but this tour make it possible for you to immerse yourself in an authentic setting with the companion of our foodie guide!

We also want to sincerely apologize for your experience with our assistant guide. We have talked to her and learned that she was trying to make guests feel welcome by engaging in conversations, but clearly that has caused some confusion, and we are really sorry for it. We take feedback very seriously and will make sure that this does not happen again.

Thank you again for the feedback, we look forward to hosting you again in the near future!

My daughter introduced me to this tour as she had previously done their tours in Beijing and Chengdu.
They were accommodating and enabled us vegetarians to participate.
Four or five sites visited and also a local brewery- all fascinating

This was our second Lost Plate Food Tour and it was as good or better than the one in Xian. The food was great and the guide Cora was very engaging, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Cora made the whole night very enjoyable and the dessert of Mango, Pomello, and coconut milk was to die for! I would highly recommend this tour and if possible request Cora as a guide. Your will not regret it.
