“Fabulous Temple”
Reviewed May 16, 2014

Longhua Temple is just a walking distance from Longhua train station. There is a Pagoda right at the entrance of the temple. The temple holds some of the most beautiful structure ever build. Lots of tourists here from around the world and some of them even follows the local having incense sticks in their hand and pray.
Incense stick are not allow into the temple building compound other then the one open space after the entrance.
Tourist who came here will will surely love this place.

“Average temple”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

Easy to reach with the tube (there is a stop just in front of it) and pretty big in comparison with the other temples in Shanghai.

You will be able to see a pagoda outside, but unfortunately the surrounding area ruins the atmosphere, in particular during the Spring Festival when in addiction to the classic Shanghai's skyscrapers there are also tons of people who ask for money and help in front of the temple - unfortunately this is a crude reality of Shanghai that is always hidden, I don't know where.

The ticket is very cheap - 10rmb - and once inside finally you can breath some buddhist temple air. Honestly after walking around for a while, if you have already seen some temples around China, you will realize that this one is no different from the others. Nice, but the same.
Well, you ha to take into account that temples are not made for tourism - at least the original ones - but for prayers, so you don't have to be too disappointed by the fact that all the most common temples looks similar. (Jade temple is quite different and pretty awesome inside - especially the wall of Buddha's statues in the backside area)

“Much better than Jade Buddha!”
Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

A bit more out of the way than Jade Buddha, but much more peaceful, spiritual, and less commercial. Lovely Buddhas, peaceful atmosphere!

“A nice out of the way temple. ”
Reviewed January 24, 2014 via mobile

This temple us not easy to reach as the other well know temples in shanghai. But it was still a nice visit. 10 rmb gets you in, includes a small insense bundle.
Nice quiet setting once inside, lots of local worshippers.
For a small fee you can eat a veggie lunch.
Be prepared for the many beggars in front of the temple, more than I have seen at any other temple in Shanghai.

“Peaceful and very nice”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

This temple is slightly away from city center, however it is worth a trip. It is very close to metro/subway station (about 800-900 meters walk) from the station.
The temple from, outside does not look to be bi or attractive, however once you step inside, you will see this is quite a large complex and has 3 main buildings. The garden around temple is also simple but very nice. Outside the temple, there is large pagoda.
When we went there it was Saturday and we do not have to pay any fees, though they mentioned about 10 Yuan as fees for entrance.
