“Great western services hotel”

Great hotel for the comforts of spoiled Americans who enjoy their comforts at the end of a long day. Room had amazing views, easy access to parks, restaurants, shopping and included an amazing breakfast. Great stay, incredible service

Great bed, with a large assortment of pillows. Black-out curtains. A/C works. Attached to a good Shanghai-cuisine restaurant, but a quick walk to some truly great restaurants. Ask for directions to the "Mall about a block across from the hotel, across the street." Some great restaurants there.

Awesome shower, in an unusual glass enclosure. If you are traveling with someone that you don't want to see in the bathroom, there's a sliding door for privacy (pocket door).

Immaculate. Helpful staff. Delicious complimentary fruit, and complimentary water. The breakfast was good. Try the hot-pot (or whatever they call the "noodle bar.") Really excellent, if you like that kind of thing. Nice TV, with a nice assortment of channels. Not a bad (or expensive) taxi ride to the Pudong skyline (*which you want to see from the Pu-xi side...*)

Courtyard means something very different overseas. This is, at least, a 4 star place. Very nice. I'd absolutely stay again.

Stayed for two weeks. This isn't your typical Courtyard Marriott, this is an upscale hotel. Room was very nice, beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning was excellent and welcome after coming back from a long hot day. Nice gym and pool area. Café Momo restaurant was just ok, I would go elsewhere in the future. The 23rd floor executive floor is worth the upgrade, you get free breakfast and then free drinks and appetizers in the evening. They even have a conference room you can reserve.
The staff were very friendly and helped get cabs when needed.
Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: upgrade to the executive level, get a view facing away from Hongxiao road, its better.

My husband and I stayed there in early June, 2008 after we checked out of our apartment on our way to repatriation back to the US. The property was lovely. The lobby is gorgeous and the staff is excellent. Kind and thoughtful. Nothing was too much to ask. Kind staff on the concierge floor and the evening and breakfast was nice was well. Across the street from Grand Gateway Mall that is upscale - Coach, Ralph Lauren, etc. Subway is in the basement of the Mall - very easy to get a taxi / subway.

I've stayed at this hotel 3 times now, each time for 4-6 nights. I am Marriott Gold so each time they upgrade me to the club floor. The club here is super nice. The people are very friendly, they remember you and remember your preferences, like eggs in the morning or beer at night. You could easily eat dinner here each night, I've done it many times, good sushi, dumplings and western options along with several beer, wine and mixed drinks for the asking...all you want.

I would seriously do the club floor if you come here. There are also two very high end, large malls right down or across the road, within a 5 min walk. Here you have all the designer brands from Europe, North America and Asia in addition to many choices to eat in all price ranges.

This area is safe, clean and has nice parks nearby to walk in as well.

I recommend this hotel, prices are fair for the area and the club floor is one of the nicest I have experienced.

We normally stop in a Chinese hotel nearby, but as we get a corporate rate in Marriot I decided to try this again after 5 years.
The welcome is warm even in the extreme AC of the reception. Outside was about 40ºC inside was less than 20. The staff all attempt to be friendly but it somehow fails. I don’t know why but I found it annoying not friendly. Or maybe I was tired and fractious all week. The room was large and comfortable. The AC working well again, turning it off and letting the ambient temperature rise to a mean of the corridor and outside was perfect for me.
The housekeeping staff were very good, cleaning every morning and turning down at night, I am sure they were waiting for me to go out so they could come in and close the curtains and replenish the showergel. Leaving the room for 5 minutes and it was done. The laundry service was excellent, I was getting through 2-3 shirts a day and the standard service had them washed and returned in less than 8 hours.
I swam in the clean cool pool a few times and a life guard appears as you do and leaves with you, this was reassuring for my colleague who was a poor swimmer.
The bar was expensive, but it’s a Marriot, you expect that, so I only used it the day I was leaving and needed some cool drinks, I never understand big corporate financial mentality if they charge less more people would use it.
The concierge was helpful on my last day, I had checked out the day before and left my bags returning in the morning to drop off the overnight bag I had taken to another town, the concierge remembered me got my bags out and then returned them. Doing this again later in the afternoon when I fetched some shopping. Then having the taxi ready and bags ready at the time I said I would depart.
Overall a pleasant stay with helpful staff. Oh and the free wifi shows they do listen to their customers.

Pros: Good location for shopping and restaurants, Good A/C, decent breakfast, free Wifi
Cons: Unfriendly doormen, rather long walk to subway which makes a rather long trip to downtown
I noticed the doormen, yes, I mean doormen as most of the times, the hotel will have 2 ~ 3 people in the lobby area, but they all have sully faces greeting the people. Actually not all the time, as I noticed they are only friendly to the white guests while no facial expression to Asian guests. I wonder why. Do white guests tip the doormen while Asians don't? After awhile, I just ignored them when I arrive in the lobby, but I would have liked them to be more friendly.
