This restaurant was recommended to us by fellow crew members. Our taxi driver could not find it as the location is off the main street. It looks like a converted garage.
We were warmly greeted ( reservation is a must), the restaurant was full and had a friendly atmosphere.
The tea was poured out of a tea pot with a long spout, he aimed perfectly.
We ordered the meal deal with as much beer as one could drink, the food was excellent and plenty of it. The beer kept coming. Being two girls in the party, we could not really drink more than we had.
The bill was reasonable for the amount of food and drink, and they called us a taxi and made sure the driver knew our hotel destination ( always a MUST in Shanghai).
I would certainly pay a repeat visit to 1221.
