This hotel looks like it has seen better days, and the fact that they're still claiming to be a 4 star hotel is laughable. I stayed one night to go out on the bund and catch the subway to the Pudong airport in the morning. This is an excellent location for that. The hotel rooms are shabby. The bed is hard as a rock. The staff took forever to check me in, as other chinese customers kept barging to the front. Checking out wasn't any easier, the front desk calls housekeeping first to check your room and make sure you didn't steal anything. This adds at least 5 minutes to the checkout. No wifi in the rooms (again, a 4 star hotel with no wifi? Seriously???) Overall, the location doesn't quite make up for the crappy hotel, rock hard bed and poor service.

Location was quite reasonable. Staff were reasonably pleasant. Lobby was nice, the rooftop restaurant was enjoyable, but I found the room fell a bit short. Very dank, stained carpets, and a very tiny window that was filthy and you could hardly see out of. Bathroom was well equipped. Overall, I think you get exactly what you pay for - and this hotel was perfectly fine for a single night, but I likely wouldn't have stayed much longer here.

My husband and I found the location of this hotel great. A short walk to either Nanjing Rd or The Bund. We booked a double room and found we had two king singles when we arrived (very hard but that is pretty typical in China). They offered to swap us the next day as no doubles available that night. Wireless internet in the lobby was extremely slow. We ate at the restuarant on the 18th floor one night and at 8pm were the only customers. Food was delicious.
Overall staff were friendly, food great, room was clean and location based on price was great.

Location is quite good, just 7 minutes walk from Nanjing rd. Rooms are quite modern and spacious. With many options for dining in this area didn't actually tried any of the restaurants in the Bund Riverside. Staff is quite freindly and helpful. Stayed here for the 3rd time in 1,5 years. A good deal pricewise if book early...

My sister and i checked into this hotel on 16th May, we booked via Hotels.com for 9 nights. We chose this hotel due to the location and that it was stated as being a 4 Star Hotel.

Upon our arrival, we weren't too thrilled with the reception and lobby area and the first thing that came to our minds was what will the rooms look like. We had just checked out of a 5 star hotel in Zhengzhou and expected this hotel to be close to those standards considering it stated being a 4 Star Hotel.

After a long check in, we went up to our room on the 13th floor and were horrified and the condition of the room. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. If anything a 3 star hotel or less.
The Beds were terribly hard and had to request for 3 blankets to put on top of the sheets so we find some comfort. The Toilet had water dripping from it. The shower cubicle looked like it was never cleaned, grime and dirt stuck on the tiles and the grooves. Absolutely disgusting to say the least. The basin had mould around the edges.

In the room, the carpet looked as it if was never cleaned, with stains all over. the walls had marks and dirt with some of the wall paper/pain chipping off. If you wanted to watch an HD movie in the room you had to Pay 10RMB which was charged to your account.

when we complained about the room, they showed us another room on the 8th floor which was so much worse, smaller and smelly. we refused that room and asked to be upgraded to a better room but was told there is nothing they can do. If we want to be moved we need to pay 400RMB per night :O. They said that the beds are that way in all hotels, im sorry but that is untrue. It was too late for us to find another hotel and spent the 9 nights at the Bund Hotel. Worst decision made was booking this hotel.

If you are looking for a hotel which you could find comfort and relaxation, this is not the hotel for you. My sister and I tried to look for things we could do outside of the hotel even during night as the less time we spent in the hotel the more stress-free we were.

No wifii in rooms, only in Lobby and the connection is very slow. Only plus side to the Hotel is the very friendly guy at the door that was so helpful as well as a young female trainee and the front desk. the other front desk staff were very rude, no customer service skills and fairly glum.

Overall you can see there was no pride taken in this hotel. Very disappointed.

I suggest this hotel change its star rating to star, as it definitely does not fit a star hotel standard.

The hotel is very nice, clean, spacius rooms. On arrival we were upgraded to a nicer room, it was enourmous and had a great view overlooking the river.
We really enjoyed our stay - position is also great.

The really bad point was the check-out - staff had us wait for a long time and then charged us for 3 bottles of water (the equavalent of 6 euros each bottle!!). The bottles were not priced and were on our bedside tables, distant from the fridge so it was not at all we had to pay for them. We protested but the attendant at the desk just gave us the bill and lifted his shoulders.

The reason I chose the hotel was its location - close to the Bund and the historical sites in the vicinity.
While I did not have much to complain on the location at all, I was offended by the lack of courtesy displayed to a guest checking in - there was not even a basic greeting.
The room itself was dirty - the carpet appeared old - not cleaned for ages with stains allover. The bathroom was okay.
The room was on the 18th floor and offered a decent view of the Shanghai skyline and the Hangpu River.
The only meals we had in the hotel were breakfasts - there was no change in the menu in the 3 days we were there, which was a lot boring and disappointing. The chef handling the egg preparation made a mess of an egg-white omelette that my wife ordered and was completely unapologetic and unwilling to make amends for it.
And now the icing on the cake - the front office guy - Nelson Wang was outright indifferent and insulting as we asking for the bills to be kept ready for check out. When a guest requests for something, the least one expects is a confirmation that the request has been mentally noted. But this guy was downright unconcerned.
Would rate the property poorly on account of the attitude of the staff and poor hygiene.... stay there at your own risk!

Room Tip: A higher floor would be good
