“No Complaints! Good Choice!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013 via mobile

Very clean, modern and I had great stay. I will be back! It is very far from PVG airport but it may be closer to the other Shanghai airport. Nice breakfast. Great amenities. I love this hotel. I only stayed one night and received a 5 star stay for a very low price.

The hotel lobby is impressive if a bit empty!! The corner room I got was impressive. I asked to change to a non-smoking room but I had no choice. The hotel staff promised to move me the next day but it did not happen.

The room air-conditioning had no temp control and the room was bit cold. The shower did not hot water (lukewarm at best). The maintenance person responded quickly but checked it at off peak period and said it is OK. However, next morning I had the same issue.

Breakfast spread was OK but nothing great!!!. The buffet lunch was a bit weak.

The hardware of the hotel is pretty good. Great rooms with TV in the bathroom as well as a window which can be adjusted from see through to dark. Beds are very comfortable but unfortunately no VOD system.

The elevators are also quite impressive and the smell inside the building is very pleasant. The lobby is huge but looks a bit like a funeral hall, have hardly seen any people there ever. Nicest feature is a bread shop with several European bread options!

Breakfast was ok. The chairs are comfortable and have a nice design. And I have had the best omelet there ever!

The service however is not very stable. We met 1-2 very nice staff members but overall it's pretty unfriendly. Hardly any greeting, smile... During check out, I mentioned that the room service I ordered the previous night arrived cold - the receptionist just said a quick "sorry" and that was it. I am not a person looking for free bees but at least a small compensation would have been adequate.
We also had a problem with the AC in our room, it couldn't be turned cooler. When we reported the problem we were informed just to switch it off... We didn't sleep very well as it was too hot.

Not sure if I'd come back but if you pay attention to good service - rather not...

It was my business trip to Shanghai for one week in August '13. The first thing you notice as you enter the hotel is its entrance lobby, it is is really grand. The chandelier and the paintings adds to the grandeur. And the rooms are very spacious and the view from top floor is excellent. I specifically asked for higher floor room with view. They have all the usual amenities like swimming pool, gymnasium and free wi-fi in guest rooms. The hotel is just a taxi ride away from the major city attractions like pearl TV tower. Its about 7 kilometers and hotel staff is courteous to get a taxi for you. They can also help you to locate the point of your interest and suggest the best way to reach. I almost forgot, the hotel also runs a one way complimentary bus shuttle for guests, to the city center.

From airport the regular taxi would charge about 200 RMB. Beware if any one approches you and introduces himself as taxi driver and takes you to taxi parking. More often than not they are not valid taxi drivers and they will charge lump sum amount. Such cars do not have meters. The taxi stand is just outside the airport, so I suggest that you wait for taxi and ask the driver to charge you by meter. If you do not know chinese then you must carry a map print of hotel location and the address of hotel in chinese script. My observation is that the taxi drivers are quite honest in Shanghai.

This is second time that I opted for this hotel, this itself says that I am more than impressed with this hotel. I would recommend this hotel for business travellers as well as for the families.

Room Tip: Try to get higher floor room overlooking the river. Go for valid taxis and not for the so-called li...
