“5-star hotel at 80-something floor high”

Top 5-star luxury hotel!

Stayed there for 2 nights. The room I stayed was on the 80-something floor of the building with a view of the Bund of Shanghai - it was great. Nice luxurious interior design. Very comfortable bed. Overall a great expensive hotel.

An absolutely wonderful weekend stay.
I have been to quite a few hotels in Shanghai, this one adds in all the extra touches with delicate ease. Don't forget to smell the towels! The refrigerated towels in the gym and fresh soft towels in the room both have individual refreshing sents.
I spent most of the time in the room, gym and pool..... it was just an incredible experience!

As an added tip (not a complaint) to the hotel- You may want to think about including a variety of in-room snacks that would be more suitable for those who cannot eat nuts and/or chocolate. Also, to compete with other hotels in your market a complimentary mini bar may be of benefit.

We stayed here for 3 nights and if there was one hotel you have to experience in China, this is it. The hotel is located in the financial district of Shanghai so expect offices and high rise. Its about 10 mins walk from the subway and the Orient Pearl Tower. The rooms and the views are simply stunning with every convenience including massive bathrooms and even an electric toilet. Unfortunately we had some pre booking issues that resulted in a few issues during our stay. After bringing it to the attention of management, they not only addressed the issues but turned it into a smooth stay. Its already one of the 500 best hotels in the world. I sincerely hope they keep working on the consistency of service delivery and their processes as guests here will expect the very best. Many thanks to Mariano for sorting things out.

I'm a true believer in the Hyatt group of hotels and really appreciate the modern interior design that the company uses in its hotels especially outside the U.S. I'm not a believer in thick carpets and gold plating which you might find in many five star hotels across the region. I very much prefer dark wood and polished granite. The rather zen styled Park Hyatt exactly meets my taste.
I normally stay at the Grand Hyatt in Jinmao Tower in Pudong but this time I wanted to try the Park Hyatt for a change:
The reception staff was very attentive and gave me a great room with a fantastic view of Pudong and the Shanghai Silhouette. I believe there's just no hotel room in the city which is higher than the Park Hyatt SWFC.
Apart from the great hotel experience I stumbled across a modern German/Austrian restaurant called "Brotzeit", which happens to be in the SWFC mall on the second floor. In contrast to the usual "Dirndl/Oktoberfest" presentation of German lifestyle, "Brotzeit" is all modern and rather a place where you would expect the affluent Audi drivers in their Hugo Boss suits to hang out.
The food is very authentic and tastes like the food I know from home. All my favorites like "Tafelspitz", cheese knackers and "Kaesespaetzle" are on the menu. They are also offering sharing platters of sausages and pork knuckles which seem to be very popular with the local crowd.
The beer is imported from Munich and is probably the freshest beer I had in all of Shanghai.
I guess on future business trips to Shanghai I won't be staying in Grand Hyatt anymore but rather move over to the Park Hyatt for a great view and a wonderful German culinary experience.

We decided to spend the last night of a 2 week holiday in China at The Park Hyatt. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing and luxurious. The rooms are very beautiful. The view is amazing at night. You can't see anything through the smog during the day. Unfortunately what ruined it for us was the attitude of the staff. From the moment we wheeled out suitcases up to the front door downstairs the staff were quite cold and unwelcoming. On numerous occasions we were told that this is the Park Hyatt and were given quizzical looks as if to say "I think you are in the wrong place." We were quite shocked as all the other 4 and 5 star hotels we had stayed at during our holiday provided excellent service and were very warm and welcoming. The Park Hyatt was not and made us feel uncomfortable. Interestingly, it was also the only hotel in China who did not provide a complimentary mini bar for its guests. Overall the Park Hyatt was disappointing. We would only recommend it to business clients, not for leisure.

Nice views and facilities but overall impression is dissapointing. There is nothing to say on the guest treatment or the apperance, but I feel this hotel is stribing for something they really havent pointed out yet. Similar to W hotels, but there is still something missing! The hotel feels a bit static, cold and lacks personality. The rooms had strange solutions of areal spec the bathroom/toilet. the bed was really hard and uncomfy. The location is also no good for tourism. I think no hotel in Shanghai can compare to Waldorf Astoria if you seek luxury go there!

I am a fan of Mandarin Oriental so maybe would not have booked if they had a hotel in the city. Having now stayed in the Park Hyatt in Shanghai for two three day visits, the most recent in January 2013, it is definitely my favourite hotel in Shanghai and one of my top three city centre hotels worldwide alongside the Mandarin Orientals in New York and Bangkok.

It is probably not for everyone, the design is very modern and some other Tripadvisor comments about the public areas being gloomy and dark are understandable. For me, it was stylish and spectacular whilst still managing to be very comfortable. The unique design features started at the entrance with probably the quirkiest lobby of any five star hotel and extended throughout, even down to the room floor corridors - a normally ignored area of design with the best of hotels. Ask for a river view room and you will not be disappointed unless the Shanghai smog machine is working overtime. The rooms are the ultimate of cool and are very spacious and comfortable. The rainwater showers are amazing and the automatic, heated toilet seat is a definite talking point. Every hotel (and home) should have one! The restaurant and bar were of excellent quality and clever lighting design ensured a completely different atmosphere between daylight and darkness.

The free wireless internet was welcome and fast. The gym although small was well fitted with the newest Technogym equipment. It was also open 24hrs which is welcome when jet lag makes 3am gym sessions almost enjoyable. Exemplary design extended to the swimming pool and spa.

We decided to try out the Maglev from Pudong Airport to the city. The service is normally every 15 minutes and takes 7 minutes to travel to Longyang road which is then fifteen minutes by cab or four stops on the Metro to Lujiazui Station and a short walk to the hotel. If you are travelling light this is an enjoyable and probably quickest way to get to the hotel.

I'll be back soon.
