Although the positives always greatly outweigh the negatives for a property such as this, the quibbles can be the most useful for readers. I had requested an upgrade to a suite at the time of reservation, and was told it was unavailable but the request would be placed in the reservation. Upon arrival, the front desk did not acknowledge the request. When I inquired, I was informed that the upgrade might be available for the second night, but not the first night. When I persisted, the desk agent summoned the manager. He was able to confirm the suite upgrade for all nights, but requested that we wait in the lobby until the room could be prepared. After about a 40 minute wait we were escorted to our suite. The remainder of the stay was essentially perfect. I would highly recommend the hotel car service to and from the airport. It is certainly worth the money, comparatively speaking, especially for first timers. An Andaz hotel (for the young and hip) will be opening in a few months in Shanghai (Hyatt property). Manager informed me that the Apple computer folks (all young and very tech oriented) ALWAYS prefer this Park Hyatt to the Grand Hyatt or the Hyatt on the Bund whenever they stay, so the Andaz will really be a wait and see proposition. Best time to visit Shanghai is in MAY.
