Interesting area to visit for lunch and a bit of mid level shopping,\. Lots of restaurants with cosmopolitan mix of menus. We found the operators extremely helpful and obliging but watch for the “surcharge” that some slap on after the fact - can make your reasonable burger very expensive.

We visited the place but have to admit that what is the point of it. Just nice old houses and small shops but that's all.

French Concession Shanghai is totally different from what you have imagined about this modern, crowded and busy metropolis with skyscrapers. Is quiet with lots of European style villas and buildings from the early 20th century. It is a great place to learn the history and unique beauty of the city and to escape from the bustling city for a while. This very large area is located almost in the center of Shanghai. If you want a break, have a cup of coffee or enjoy several dishes at a roadside café or restaurant.

The former French Concession includes some of the most attractive architecture and pleasant streetscapes in Shanghai. Well worth a stroll.
