“French Concession”

Many places to eat, with very good quality. Also a great couple of Jazz Bars, as well as live bands. Sit outside and enjoy the evening, baring any huge pollution issues.

“Great restaurants and shopping”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

We thought this was a small area. It is huge. Some great shops and restaurants. Classic old French architecture, some beautiful brownstones, and both high end shops and touristy shops. Great place to see.

“Favourite place in Shanghai”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

Start on Taikang Road (explore the lanes, which are a little touristy but there are some real gems tucked in the tight alleyways. Ladies if you like contemporary Chinese fashion - check out the small shop URBAN TRIBE - beautiful linen clothes and jewellery - 14 Lane 248. Highly recommend this.) Then wander down Sinan Road to Fuxing Park and on to Huaihai Middle Road. While thing takes about 2-3 hours at a very leisurely pace. Great architecture, eclectic shops and lots of cafés to refuel and refresh. We were amongst only a handful of Western tourists we saw all morning. It was a great way to see a little of Shanghai's history.

“History”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

The Old French Concession has a sense of history. The narrow streets, the buildings with their unique architecture. The numerous "watering holes' - pubs clearly patronised by expats. We had a beer at a bar that was New Zealand orientated ruby of the giant screen. Walk around the place and enjoy its atmosphere.
