“Awesome Walking Neighborhood”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

This was the highlight of my trip to Shanghai. This is a great neighborhood to walk and explore. The tree lined streets are beautiful, and there are a ton of shops, cafes and parks to wander around.

“A "Most visit" if you are in Shanghai”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

This area gives you a flavour of the old area of Shanghai. It is also one of the more wealthier part offering exhibition and arts, that you may not see in other areas. You are likely to feel at home here quite fast. Enjoy and relax at one of the cafes/restaurants even thought it is a bit pricey.

“European architecture, history, shopping, dining and beautiful tree lined streets,”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Must see if beautiful parks and tree lined streets, with interesting boutiques, european restaurants, Sun Yat Sen's house, museums and monuments interest you. Very interesting and relaxing walk through one of the classic neighborhoods surviving from old historic Shanhai.

“Can't say you have been to Shanghai...”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

... unless you have walked the French Concession and it is best to experience this area via walking for the most part. You can get there via taxi or several metro lines from anywhere in the city. This is a great area to visit and experience the atmosphere of the old city. The Moeller House, embassies, former houses of many famous artists, authors, and political figures can all be found there. Xintandi [pronounced Shin-tan-dee] is a shopping area that has refurbished and rebuilt old traditional Shanghai style buildings [hutongs]. The site of the first communist party museum in addition to many modern day eateries and bars [Boxing Cat Brewery]. Yes, there is a very popular Starbucks located there where you can take a break and watch all manner of people pass by. Everyone you talk to will have a different suggestion for what to do while in the Concession so don't hesitate to solicit opinions.
