It's a bar that serves snacks. It doesn't profess to be a restaurant. downstairs the pool table dominates with 5 or 6 TV screens positioned to watch various sports activities. The trouble is the DJ plays the music so loud that it makes it impossible to watch sport or chat.
but lot's like it because it is a little bit of America and a place to stop by to realise that Shanghai has everything.
Restaurants are plentyful in Shanghai with all types of cuisine. Upstairs at the Big Bamboo in Puxi there is a quieter bar and a disco bar.
This is popular with pool players and younger clientele who like noise and music. The bar staff are polite and helpful. No cheap drinks in Shanghai but lots of great food.

This place was a big disappointment. When I stopped for an NFL playoffs game, I found it to lack the atmosphere of a true good sports bar. The bartenders offered either no service or unfriendly service. They were more interested in eating/drinking their own meals. Their English skills were marginal. The food & drink quality were well below average.

The place offers NFL games (albeit not in HD) and that is the only reason it did not receive a Terrible rating. So unless you are desperate to catch a football game, do not waste your time at the Big Bamboo.

Would I ever rave about the food at Big Bamboo? Absolutely not. It is average at best and worse than that more often. However, as a sports bar or just to hang out, this place is perfect. Huge drink selection, distractions for the kids (+ french fries), and a big welcoming space. Don't go here expecting a "just like home" version of burgers and fries. Do go here with some friends to catch up on sports while chatting over a cold beer.

Best sports bar that I have been too - well patronised by foreigners. Prices are hideous but the beer is good! Ordered the top of the range Australian prime steak which it was not and could not cut it with the cutlery provided. £30 for a couple of beers and an inedible steak - no sympathy when I complaine. Will not be back.
