“Nice but pricey!”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

This is a restuarant that I would recommend for eating bao zi. The outer layer of the bao zi is just perfect! But the price is a bit high.

“Great dumpling!”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

My first visit to a Chinese branch of this famous dumpling house, after years of going to the one in Los Angeles & Taipei.
Food is still the same; simple, precise & delicious. The menu is much expanded, now offering several more flavors of the soup dumpling, such as truffle. Service is surprisingly better than LA, wait staff were courteous, professional & efficient. We got there before the rush so no wait - very unusual.

“Great dumplings!”

We went to Ding Tai Fung for lunch while shopping at Xintiandi. There was a short wait of about 15 mins. Food was excellent and the service was very good! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

“Dumplings delight”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

We were recommended to try this, after some excellent dumplings in a small town near Shanghai which we loved. Our local guide suggested we come here and it was well worth while, just outstanding food. We loved the busy atmosphere and the wide range of people eating here, you did feel at home.

“Xiao long bao and much more..!”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

First visited this restaurant in Beijing when it first opened there but recently came to the Shanghai branch which is still as good as ever. I am always concerned that quality drops when restaurants become chains, but the xiao long bao are as good as ever and the range of other dishes are excellent as well, especially the dou miao which are often completely sold out by dinner time, as well as the cold appetizers and noodles. I was told no bookings could be made after 5.30 PM so was worried the line would be extremely long at 7 PM, but the turnover is quick and we were seated in around 15 minutes even lots of other people before us. Definitely a must-eat when visiting Shanghai!
