Description: If you are looking for authentic French food in Shanghai seek no more! Le Saleya is just the place you want to be.Visiting Le Saleya is like being beamed up to the South of France in a family style establishment where owners get their hands dirty; where waiters run everywhere shouting out your order loudly, where the wine flows to pair traditional French dishes and ravish your palate; and where the kitchen door is widely opened, just because there is nothing to hide. Quite the opposite indeed. Proud of our sourcing and savoir-faire we love to share our methods, our kitchen stories, and our passion with our guests. There’s even a tiny special guests and friends’ kitchen table for the purists and the foodies that want to find out what being first in line during a “coups-de-feu” feels like.In January 2014, Le Saleya unveiled the next chapter in the restaurant’s history: a significant redesign, the extension of our terrace and a brand new menu designed by our Chef Philippe Charon. French style Suckling Pig, Pan-fried Goose Liver, Croustillant de Joue de Boeuf just to cite a few of our signature dishes that are to be washed down with a Pouilly Fuissé, a Bordeaux or a Côtes du Rhône, the epicurean way…Le Saleya is all about generosity, conviviality, memories, and a shared pleasure around the table. It shows a certain lifestyle and French tradition so rare to find in China.

“good food, nice environment”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

the food was acually very good. It is a little pricy but it is worthy. In Shanghai, there are thousands places but not many that are worth the price they charge.

“Unfortunate Accident... Chair Collapsed on Our Host a Slim Chinese”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

This is the second time I have been taken to this restaurant by our host, a young Australian Chinese living and working in Shanghai. Again we could not find fault with the food or service. The problem came when our hosts chair suddenly collapsed under him without warning. He is slim and lean so his weight could not have been the problem. The staff were apologetic but did not offer our very startled host anything for his very personal loss of face embarrassment, shock and pain untill he said he was embarrassed having everyone in the restaurant look at him as though he had done something wrong. They then gave us (3 people ) a very small Creme De Mont and Cream each. He was till suffering as they prepared the bill that came to 1,100 rmb. They then took off 100rmb. Not much of a discount????? I doubt he will be taking other Australians to Le Saleya......

“Great Restaurant and superb atmosphere”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

You want to have a nice lunch or dinner in Shanghai: stop to Salaya. Alex and Olivier will welcome to their restaurant.
The meat is just great, they have a butcher shop, and they prepare it like in France.
A great bistrot atmosphere where you will feel like home.
Bravo for the wine list!
