“Great spot, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

We ate three meals here, breakfast, lunch and evening meal. All good and fantastic to be able to eat outside. The menu may be tilted to western taste but many locals seem to enjoy too, there is good choice for vegetarian meals. A decent selection of wines and lovely staff serving, the GM Benjamin is very helpful and walks the business with a watchful eye. Prices are high but still worth a visit any time of day.

“A Nice Fresh Departure from Chinese food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

After eating Chinese food for B, L, and D on our tour we were ready for something else. Element came as recommendation from our China Tours tour guide. Hip upbeat place. Amazing chicken Caesar salad, dad's steak sandwich and even kids Mac n cheese minus the mushrooms. Across from Renaissance Hotel. Walking distance. Service friendly. Courses come out one plate at time. Servers know English well. Great concept.

“Good place to get standard western fare ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

Catering towards westerners who are willing to overpay for sandwiches and salads, this is a good option for anyone who absolutely cannot stand to eat Chinese food a day longer. Prices are high but quality of food is pretty good - they do mix mayonnaise in their humus to add flavor/lower cost which makes for a strange flavor

“Convenient and fresh food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

Element Fresh have several outlets in Shanghai and overall they are a well run operation. The food is fusion so you have a wide selection of varied dishes that include pasta, meat, fish, vegetables and so on and there are a few asian dishes too. Chef Chen's Chicken is quite nice; some type of teriyaki glaze, served with Bok Choi and rice. The salads are one of the main reasons I go as they are well prepared and always fresh. All outlets have an excellent selection of fresh juices, which is one of the main attraction. Restaurants is clean, service is ok but it does get busy so sometimes they get swamped off their feet; friendly too. Family friendly, good for lunches.

“Lovely place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

Element fresh is a simple and nice chain. Most of all of them I like the one on Xintiandi and the one on Donghu lu, very quite and the food is yummy.
I suggest to try a warm Dad's steak sandwich, tofu wan zi is very tasty too (it's a stir-fried sesame-ginger tofu balls dish, yum), shrimp and papaya salad is a must. Sometimes I choose a simple mac and cheese over all that, and you can add extra chicken to it too.
If you are in the Jin'an area during lunch time, I wouldn't suggest going to Shanghai Center EF, it's way busy and too freaking noisy.
