My family and I ate in the second floor and even though we had to line up, it was worth the wait. All the xiaolongbaos were delicious and it was my first time to try the soup version. Will definitely want to eat here again if I get to visit Shanghai again!

Really really good dumplings, buns, wontons! Extraordinarily low prices. My wife son and I hate there for lunch for less than $15 in shining drinks, the dumplings and soup are fresh, and surprisingly for China not overly salty. Be aware though the soft drinks and beer was not served very cold. Don't expect much service but the food is terrific for quick, filling, high quality lunch,

Anothy Bourdain doesn't lie, this place is amazing, the line for the takeaway was around the corner, so we opted to eat in the restaurant section on the second floor, we were seated in about 5 minutes, dumplings were out in about 15mins, every mouth full of these dumplings was nirvana. Do your self a favour and go here at least once before you die.

Nanxiangzhen has many restaurants selling mantou, but this Nanxiang Mantou Dian in Yu Yuan Bazzar is most famous because of its xiaolongbao(steam dumpling). There are three stories in the same building, the lowest with long queue is for take away and also cheaper compare to 2nd and 3rh floor. I visited twice last week at the 2nd floor before 10 am and was told by the locals that the price will increase after 10 am daily. RMB 20 for the basket of 16 pieces of xianlongbao, very cheap isn't it? Go and try it if you are able to get a seat at the 2nd floor before 10 am. it is worth for that price.

Locals often queue up for takeaway at Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant (that's what they call themselves) so that the line often stretches around the corner, which makes it about a good 30 minutes of waiting. Well, locals cannot be wrong, especially at 20 RMB for 16 dumplings with pork & crab filling. Dumplings come steaming fresh and delicious. The only seasoning available is rice vinegar, which is a perfect pairing. But my unsophisticated palate could not detect any discernible traces of crab meat in the dumplings. My guess is that the ratio of ingredients must be 1 pig to 1 crab. But there's no denying, their dumplings are quite delicious and are a great value. Before noon, I believe, they also sell the same dumplings but without crab in the filling at a lower price.
