Swissotel Grand Shanghai

This is a lovely hotel, ideally located for easy access to the subway and several shopping areas. The staff were friendly but English was truly limited at the desk and restaurant. Asking for a tea pot for the room took 4 attempts but they smiled each time they brought various items. Getting over jet lag was tricky as they knocked on the door to clean the room rather relentlessly. The beds were solid, solid as a rock and the mini bar turns off when you leave so don't put anything in it which you want to keep fresh.
**that said, it is better than any UK hotel I have stayed in, the shower was excellent, the sheets were soft, the toiletries good and the little box of useful toiletry accessories were very handy**

Room Tip: Double check whether breakfast is included as adding anything is expensive.

This is a new hotel close to Nanjing Xi Lu. Great rooms with nice interior design.
Prices are reasonable for Shanghai.
Downside is that the business center ahs rather limited hours and the executive club shuts down at 11PM.

The hotel is very close to everything on the Puxi side.
Sure a place to recommend.

Room Tip: Go exwecutive floor.

I was only here for one night, and honestly didnt spend that much time in the hotel at all. I was staying at the URBN Hotel during the earlier part of my Shanghai trip, but I took a quick daytrip out of the city and was unable to re-book the URBN for my last night in the city.

The rooms were very clean and decent sized, what you would expect from your typical 4 star chain business hotel (ie. Hyatt, Hilton, etc...). The staff all spoke English fairly well, so I didnt have much trouble communicating. For the price, it was a decent overall value, but I did enjoy my stay at the other hotel in Shanghai much more.

I have stayed at Swissotel Shanghai for 5 nights when I relocated from Hong Kong to Shanghai. I was accompanied from my girlfriend who came over from Europe and who sincerely loved the hotel. I also was very happy with the Swissotel. Nicely situated near the MTR Jing'An Temple, great service (concierge helped me a lot to gain access to my new apartment here since my Chinese is a bit ruddy), very clean and from all 5 star hotels I have ever been to by far the most comfortable bed.
Also the large bathroom is very nice. Only problem is the expensive and rather slow WiFi. But this is more China than the hotel itself.

Make sure to get the upgrade for the Executive Room, when offered at Checkin and your budget allows it. WiFi will be included, so is a delicious intimate breakfast on the Executive Floor. Nice view, great service and no morning rush. All extremely relaxed. Nice touch of course are the drinks offered in the evening.

Spa is very fine as well, whirlpools gender separated, which is a bit of a bore, sauna and steam bath very clean.

Couldn't find any severe negative aspects of this hotel. Might not stay there again since I live here now but surely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get the executive rooms...
