If you're looking for a restaurant in Shanghai serving xiaolongbau that locals go to, this is one of them. The long queue outside the restaurant when we arrived at noon was testimony to its popularity. From outside, it looked unpretentious.

Service was efficient, and despite the crowd, orders were taken in a friendly manner. We ordered two trays of the normal dumpling which arrived quite soon. It was very good and it wasn't enough for the two of us.

Definitely the place for xiaolongbau when you visit Shanghai.

Quick tips:

- Get in line before noon if you want pork xiao long bao (they sell out fast)
- Don't forget to order ginger as it doesn't come included (1 RMB per order)
- Communal seating and crowded, best for a quick meal
- Yang's fried dumplings across the street

Came here twice during my first (3 day) trip to Shanghai. We had heard great things about the xiao long bao and decided to head over around 5pm on a Friday after getting to the city. We were able to order without a problem (no line), but sadly they only had two kinds of dumplings (out of about 10) when we got there: pork + crab (13 RMB), and pure crab (99 RMB). We went with the pork and crab, and the flavor of the soup and texture of the filling didn't disappoint.

We later read that they usually sell out by 1pm of the pork and other varieties, so we went back on Monday morning around 11am. There was a long line out the door but it moved quickly, and we were able to order several baskets of pork xiao long bao after waiting about 30 minutes. The place gets super crowded and it's communal seating, so it's not exactly the type of place where you want to go for a relaxed and drawn out meal with friends. Highly highly worth the wait though, as they were definitely the best xiao long bao we've had (and we've had a lot).

A final plus is that right across the street is a Yang's Fried Dumplings location, so after gorging yourself on traditional xiao long bao you can walk over and try some fried xiao long bao - also pretty amazing and something you won't find anywhere else!

This is a "must visit" food shop for me at Shanghai, whenever I go travelling to Shanghai, I have to visit this shop at least once!

The steamed bun is excellent, the skin is just of the right thickness, neither too thin nor too thick! The fillings are excellent too, pork mixes with crab meat, a perfect match!

The price, extremely reasonable, the quality is even much better than those served at famous restaurant, but the price is much much much cheaper!

They only sell dumplings and several varieties of them. If you are looking for more, you might want to visit DingTaiFeng instead.

The dumplings were fresh and tasty. We have 3 varieties at a fraction of the price at DingTaiFeng.

It is a small restaurant serving the locals so don't expect some swanky ambience. You might have to share table when the restaurant is packed.
