The Longbeach Resort was really the best accommondation in the Yasawas! The food was great, the cook worked before in a 5 star hotel, it was simple but very tasty.
The people working and living there were really nice, they made a nice kava-evening with all the guests, they were always very interested in us.
The owner (Noah) even went hiking with us on his small island right next to the main island. The view on top was fantastic!
We went snorkeling right in front of the resort and on a half day trip. We also had a Fijian-lesson. The beach was perfect and good for swimming at high tide. It`s very quiet and relaxing and perfect for travellers who are happy with a beer or a bounty coke at the beach, but if you look for a party-island you`re definitely on the wrong island.

I went here by recommendation of Lonely Planet Fiji guide saying that this place could become one of the best backpacker places in the Yasawas and that it has completely been redone in mid 2009. Personally, I consider it pretty lame in all dimensions.
The resort is huge, but still it feels empty and anonymous. Only a handful of people seem to be working over here and not at all interested in warmly welcoming the guest or even talk to them. I was totally missing the good atmosphere I experienced at all other islands I stayed at. The double bure I was staying in was either not redone last year or – as all other bures looked the same – just superficially. Although being quite spacious and offering a private terrasse and hammock, it felt pretty run down. Bathroom was the dirtiest one I saw on the Yasawas with plenty of stains and lots of hair of the person staying in here before me.
I could have lived with that, if the overall experience at this place would have been better. I arrived here by lunch time and there was nothing to do in the afternoon. No swimming at all due to low tide (not even at another nearby beach), no village visits, no half-day trips, not even some coconut opening lessons or stuff like this – only a single and half-broken canoe for which they even charge you extra. Food was the worst among all 6 islands I have visited. Strangely tasting dinner consisting of rice and chicken that probably has been cut with a hammer because of all the little bone particles I had in my mouth. Lousy breakfast and lunch was just a plate of pasta with a little spoon of tomato sauce on it. Servings are small and most of the times there is not enough left if you want some more.
Overall, I would not stay at Longbeach Resort again and feel pretty sure by saying that there are enough better islands you can travel to, even if you are doing so for 2 weeks or longer.

this was very pretty and i liked the people who worked there a lot but the terrible food let the place down. the beach was lovely for walks but was a bit windy so not that enticing for swimming, we went on a fantastic trip to blue lagoon beach which gave us an idea of what we were missing as the beach there was warm and tranquil and the kids splashed about all day.
very simple but perfectly nice bungalows right on the beach which had a beautiful view of the surrounding islands and right next to the fijian village with amazingly friendly lovely people.

The place is rustic, like most in the yasawas; we've got an ensuite room, and it was ok, the matress was not that confortable, and bathroom not that good (shower had no pressure and salty cold water), but as we didnt have high expectations, it was still a good experience.
The beach is one of the most beautiful ones (we'd visited 6 diferent islands) and it is a quiet place, i would say a good choice for couples, or for a short stay.
The food was a disappointment, you are not given any option, and what they serve is usually eatable but not enjoyable. Breakfast was very limited also.

My recommendation would be to not stay more than 2 nights and to bring biscuits and cereal bars with you.
