“Loved it!”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We stayed at the Pearl May 11-16, 2013 and we were very pleased. The staff is just wonderful, especially at the front desk. After arriving from the states at 5 in the morning and a two hour plus drive from the airport to the hotel the staff was so welcoming and got us into a room so quickly so we could get some rest from our long journey. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The lobby area is open air and very impressive. The resort just gave us a feeling of being cozy.
The beach on the property is not what you think of in Fiji but we knew that going to the property but the pool makes up for it. Our purpose of staying at The Pearl was so my husband could shark dive with Beqa Diving and the hotel was so helpful in arranging all of his diving. Loved the pizza at the restaurant, too. If i had to complain about one thing it would be that the service is slightly slow in the dining areas but could be that we were on Fiji time where life isn't as fast paced as it is in the states. We would definitely return without a doubt.

Room Tip: With the resort being so affordable book an oceanview. It is well worth it.

Pacific Harbour is about an hour's drive from the bustle of Suva. but the drive past native villages is interesting and well worth the journey.
Arriving at The Pearl is moving into a peaceful paradise. The staff are friendly and always willing to assist and advise guests. The setting is idyllic - beautiful sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. There is a lovely pool, complete with bar (don't miss happy hour) and plenty of lounges to relax on. The resort grounds are well set out and afford plenty of shady areas.
The restaurant food was varied and well presented; the staff were always on hand to provide for your every need.

If you want quiet and no atmosphere fine but numbing, some couples said 4 days was enough...
The disappointments_
- Most staff were nice some not
- back ground music was brain numbing
-The Guard at the gate lazily says "hi" NO big "BULA" Welcome.
- The rooms nice but when you have a shower it floods, no bath
- Food good but my fiancé ordered same meal 2 days in a row, first meal presented well- great taste ..second time put on the plate looking like a dogs breakfast ...
- Breakfast finished at 10 am, the chef cooking the omelette finished at 9.30 ..staff lazy to set outside tables when nice days.
- Margaritas inconsistent - one day served in a margarita glass..then following days in a martini glass then in a standard tall glass ...paying more for less
- The internet poor way of service
- Happy hour finishes 5.50pm not 6pm. Had a bartender refuse happy hour deal at 5.50pm, still wanted to order a drink but she turned her back on me and walked away...was later fixed by head barman
- My 4 year old daughter was running on the grass and was told not to.
- The activities- They asked us what to do... soooooo pathetic. One night, the staff tried to get people to do the limbo, lazily walking around with a pool stick asking people if the wanted to join in..NO LIFE/MOTIVATION IN STAFF IF STAFF ARE EXICTED AND HAPPY SO WILL THE PEOPLE BE. ..On another occasion, they offered a free fishing line to fish off the pier..hooks were too big, asked if they had small ones and I was told "no", that I had to walk out of resort to local store and get my own hooks if I wanted small hooks". BAD SERVICE.
Everything closes around 10pm felt like a retirement village.
- No lounge chairs on the beach
- Golf course average
- Only guy that showed great service was a staff member named, SAVI, and the head desk staff
- The G.M. walks around the hotel in a modern dress and high heels and makes the Fijian ladies behind the desk wear high heels--funny..but not fitting to Fijian styling.
- The G.M. had no interest in the in house guests. She does not know how to interact with guests or run a resort, prancing around like she was on a power trip.
- A cruise ship load of tourists came in for the day and basically took over the whole resort and staff gave no thought or service to in house guests.
- Requested to speak to G.M. and she didn't bother to make herself available..
- We went to the Warrick resort for 2 days due to the dull lackness of the resort.
Disappointing as it could be a great place, we were looking to get married there but due to all disappointments .NOT A CHANCE.
- NO kids club or swings and the kids were discouraged from running on lawns by staff. Totally kid unfriendly resort!
- Resort was so far that most tours operators do not travel there....you'll have to make your own way to the nearest pick up point (about an hour away and a cost of $60-80 FJ one way) to go on a day tour.

IN CONCLUSION - when people have to go to other resorts to enjoy their time, it's an inconvenience to the traveller and a loss of revenue to the owner.
If you're looking for a Fijian experience, want a great, happy, welcoming atmosphere, this is not the place for you. Rather, if you want stillness, less to no interaction and want to be in bed by 9.30pm...then great, you'll probably enjoy it.

My wife and I stayed at the pearl for 5 nights for our honeymoon and it was just perfect. After a 2 and a half hour drive from Nandi to Pacific Harbour it was lovely to be welcomed by such lovely staff and have our bags carried up into a nice cool air conditioned room. We had a great view over the beach and the room was clean and well equipped. The staff at the Pearl are 5 star, attending to our every needs promptly and with a smile! The guys that run the activities from the little stand near the pool are just great making our stay enjoyable and action packed, happy to call them new friends! Many activities are organised for everyone daily, so even though we were so far from the main areas we were never bored. Happy hour by the pool bar is a must with entertainment and cheap drinks you can't go wrong. Mantarae restaraunt served top class food every night and a full buffet breakfast is a great way to start an action packed day or just a day lazing in the pool bar. The staff here are what makes this place great! We will be back again and again! A special thanks to Mathai, Sarru, Save, Lola and Veleki, these people are a must meet, they made our trip extra awesome!

Yes, it is a wee way from Nadi, but we took a local bus ( air con. and plays movies as you go) for about fjd $11 each. great experience to drive through all the villages. When we arrived we were greeted by some of the superb staff with cold water and a very warm welcome. Our room was spacious, tropical and lovely. great air con. nice wee balcony. the bathroom was lovely and clean... the housekeeping standard was very good. Fresh towels if required not a problem. my only teeny complaint was the shower water wants to head out onto the bathroom floor! the food was great. the breakfast yummy and everything available that you could want really. HAPPY HOUR is a real winner. we loved this the best, cocktails were awesome with the local band of men singing and playing every night for 2 hours. The staff are exceptional. I really could not fault the service of any of them- by far the opposite. would i go back? Hell yes!

Room Tip: loved our ocean view room!

Located in Pacific Harbour which in general is a fun area, with many hotels, restaurants, and activities to do, The Pearl is one of the classiest resorts in the area: great A+ furniture and classy looking lounges & restaurants. It overlooks the beautiful Beqa islands, and is located both on the beach side and river side, a fact that makes it unique. The pool is not that impressive but okay. The food in general is good and the staff are friendly. We loved everything from appetizers to main dishes to cocktails to desserts at the Mantarea restaurant. I loved the fact that most restaurants have a panoramic view overlooking the pool area, river side, and beach side. The Pearl is a small resort, but very relaxing to be in and has many activities organized for you. The only downside of the resort that is far from the main cities, Suva and Nandi.

We stumbled across the Pearl after arriving at our arranged accommodation which was less than satisfactory. They were fantastic, we rung in a panic late at night and they arranged a taxi to collect us from Nadi and drive us all the way to the Pearl finally arriving at 1130pm. Amazing stay! We can have a super relaxing day beside the pool or in a bure looking beach hut facing the ocean. Or we can partake in any of the many FREE activities offered throughout every day. For example om our very first day we woke to a delicious huge buffet breakfast. Then we were off to resort orientation, then we did the fish feeding, cococnut husking, then coconut tasting and scraping ready to make the cream, then we did a fijian cooking class and ate it for lunch (still no cost) then in the evening we did crab racing, happy hour and a large fijian lovo night experience! was a fantastic day! Today we did a guided kayak trip up the river with full commentary also for free for over an hour. Cannot rate this Hotel high enough, Nothing is too much trouble an everything is 10/10. Cannot wait to come again!
