My husband and I stayed here in March to relax after a 4 week tour of New Zealand. What a find! We can only endorse what previous reviewers have said, this is 5 star all the way from arrival to departure. Room and food easily 5* with a great all inclusive price, three course meals at lunch and dinner from an English trained chef who came and talked to everyone but we ate far, far too much... , drinks and sunsets at the sunset bar - 6*. Friendliness and helpfulness of the Fijian staff - 7*. We had a room away from the restaurant at the far end and it was amazingly quiet. Beach burres are worth the upgrade as you have your own patio with sea view, recliners on the beach and a hammock between the coconut palms...The resort manager is so happy and cheerful and willing to oblige. If it wasn't at the other side of the world we would go back every year. If we ever get to do a trip to Australia we would certainly go back to Vomo island to relax. We have wonderful memories of this paradise on earth - there was simply nothing to fault. Rarely are places like they describe in the brochures but Vomo island resort really is what you dream of a Fijian paradise being with its white sand, turquoise seas and blue skies.....and first class facilities!

Room Tip: As far from the restaurant as possible for a quieter spot but all areas are good. Also a beach burr...

From arriving to leaving we were relaxed. Everything is pristeen. The menu & food is 5* & changes everyday. Dressing for sunset drinks at The Rocks bar are a great way to finish the day. The staff & service are top notch. The activities are low key & calming. Best spot in Fiji for me. Worth a visit. Would advice being there for Fiji night Thurs I think. We missed that & so hope to get back there & be there for one day for that.

As return customers of Vomo, (we had our honeymoon here in 2007), to say we were extremely impressed is an understatement!. Our most fav holiday destination, we were so happy to see the embrace of families to the island. In saying this, there were plenty of times the pool was child free and quiet. At full capacity, you wouldn't have known this. Always a quiet spot. I think as a honeymooner i would have enjoyed it just as much as 6 years ago. Now Vomo is in a league of their own. Outstanding facilities and timetable, we were able to have child free dinners the whole time we were on the island. even our just 3 year old wanted to go to the kids club, this is unusual for him. The service has massively stepped up a notch. You will wait for nothing. With a new General Manager & head chef this place was hard to fault. The food was exactly as all of the reviews stated. 5 star and delicious. Great choices offered everyday, also kids food was exceptional. Staff were beautiful with them learning your names very quickly. One disappointment, the cocktails were poor quality and not that cheap. This is all you could fault. There are many new additions coming to the island, a kids pool, new gym, new spa etc, we just cannot wait to get back next year to do it all again. We stayed on the mainland after our Vomo experience only to be so let down. Nothing compares to the whole experience on Vomo. You are never just a number. We will never return to mainland, just do vomo then go home! We were serenaded every night by the 3 lovely boys singing, we loved them. Mita in the restaurant, was the only one to get a smile from our little one. Staff even went out of their way to come and say goodbye to us if they were finishing their shift. The head chef came to personally say goodbye to us, it was just very touching. Never consider another island in Fiji, vomo has it all.

Room Tip: Request a stand alone bure, the interconnecting ones are not so quiet.

Bula Australia traveller 1,
Firstly thank you for returning to Vomo after having your honeymoon here, and for taking the time to write a wonderful review of your stay in paradise.
It is always pleasing to see families return becoming part of the Vomo family and ambassadors of Vomo.
We are pleased to see you have noticed a positive in our service as we are aiming to provide honest personal non intrusive service of days gone by, topped with a Fijian smile!
I am sorry you didn't enjoy the cocktails quite as much and we are reviewing the cocktail offerings as part of our developing process to ensure the culinary and liquid are all equally a journey for the taste buds! Chef Amit and his team will be delighted with your culinary comments as they continue to strive for new levels.
We have an exciting year ahead with new additions as you mentioned that will continue to enforce Vomo as a luxury choice for couples and families alike.
Thank you once again for all the positive feed back and the boys await to serenade you under star lit skies when we look forward to your return.

This was our second trip to vomo & 5 nights was not long enough. We were blown away with the improvements that have been made to the island. The new GM Mark was lovely and you can see what a difference he has obviously made to the place. We were lucky to have the most amazing weather this time of year and the best thing added to the island is the kids club. State of the art, crop of the cream. This had added so much value to the island as we can now share it with our children. There were also so many times that you wouldn't know there were kids here. Many times the pool was quiet and relaxing. Even at full capacity there was always space and quiet! Our kids loved the staff and the staff knew there Names from very early on. The food was exquisite as was the service. There is no such thing as Fiji time on Vomo. This is what makes it differ from other islands we have visited in Fiji before. We are sad to leave but this is the only place we would come back to, next time for 10 nights. Nothing in Fiji even compares to vomo. It's outstanding in every way and with new and more improvements happening in the coming months it will only get better!

Room Tip: The rooms are not very sound proof. We were so happy to be moved from a connecting room with a cryin...

This was our first visit to Vomo and it did not disappoint!
This island is stunning-from the moment you step off the boat and onto the soft white sand with the welcome song you feel like you've arrived in paradise!

We had two young children 17 months and 3 and half with us and were travelling with friends.
We did experience a few initial hiccups with service but after we spoke to the new GM Mark- he personally saw to it that the service improved for us! Mark said there are lots of new developments going to take place - eg an adults only area and a kids swimming pool area adjacent to the kids club. Having said that I mostly had the pool to myself every afternoon- so it did not feel overrun with kids.

The food here is amazing- new menus every day and three courses for lunch and dinner with three choices in each category. We enjoyed all the prawns very much! The kids were well catered for and we could ask the lovely chef Amit for anything and he delivered! I must mention the lovely Mita- she made our time at the restaurant fabulous. We were very well looked after by her.

The kids club was outstanding. It was only about 6 months old and catered for kids brilliantly. We had a babysitter every afternoon and night so it was a real treat for us! Our kids simply loved Taina and were excited to be going to the Kids club with her every afternoon, it meant our relaxation time by the pool was that much sweeter!

The beach was gorgeous and the kids enjoyed playing in and out the water finding starfish and collecting shells and trying to catch the tropical fish.

The Rocks Bar rocked! Delicious cocktails in a world class setting- a must do!
This was lovely boutique island resortand we can't wait to be back next year.

Suggestion:
Because we have pre school children and they need snacks it would be great to have food available for kids morning and afternoon teas eg fruit/muffins/cheese and crackers

Room Tip: We had a garden villa which was lovely and private. The beachfront villas not suitable for very litt...

Bula from Vomo!
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feed back which is so very important to all the Vomo Family.
Chef Amit and his team are continuing to build the island culinary experiences with some creative new additions to the daily offering which are proving to be a hit! Of course taking on board what you would like to see, little islanders now have availability of meals through out the day ensuring they don't get to hungry. Thank you for the positive comments on our cocktails and the Rocks vista one can never tire of, as the sun closes on another day on Vomo.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to our south pacific shores.

We have been back for our 4th trip to Vomo in April this year. I wanted to wait to review it again because we were travelling to Hawaii a month later and wanted to compare.

We stayed at the Big Hilton resort and Vomo left it for dead ! At the Hilton you were a nameless faceless number, whilst the resort it self was good the staff and the whole feel of the place was like no one actually cared at all. It was just a job. Also you could have been anywhere in the world there was no connection to Hawaii in either the resort or the people.

Vomo is as always like returning to the family home. We feel like we are treated as family and always welcomed back.

In terms of the tangibles of the island its easy to comment
The island beautiful
The food sublime
The rooms great.

But for me its the intangibles that make the island

1. Our kids can pretty much just roam free ( there is no where else in the world I feel safe letting them do this).
2. The staff have seen the kids grow up as we first came there with a two year old who is now getting on towards 6 and they generally seem to care about them.
3. If I want to go to breakfast and the kids aren't ready I can leave them and let them follow. No where else in the world I can do that. I left my youngest one day and she didn't turn up so after 30 mins I thought I'd better look for her. She was sitting on the steps of the bure with the gardener singing songs and playing a ukelele. You CANNOT BUY that sort of experience !
4. The people seem to have a real connection with the place and there is history here.
5. My wife says I'm biased as this is my happy place that I instantly relax at.
6. When I asked the kids if this was a special holiday or normal, they just say this is our other beach home ! Again you cant buy that.

In terms of other things the management has changed and he had only been there a few days before we got there so cant say what the impact will be. As a testament to the training the staff and treatment was brilliant as always, so the change over was very smooth. The chef was new and the food was as good if not better.

If there were any improvements it would only be to say maybe up date the wine list a bit and maybe the breakfast and kids menus. Having said that this would just be polishing a diamond and you could equally say if its not broke don't fix it, because its pretty dam good already.

There are also plans for expansion, I just hope it never gets too big and looses all the intangibles, as I love it and would hate to loose my happy place.

cheers
Matt Griffiths.

Bula! What a great review, thank you so much. The intangibles list brought a smile to all of us as you are right, there are many magical moments that happen on Vomo that make it so special and such a personal and unique experience and place to visit. We are thrilled that you still return to see us and rest assured, our new GM, Mark Leslie, has a few exciting new initiatives to only make the Vomo experience even better. You will never lose the magic of Vomo feeling like it is your little piece of paradise as that is what Vomo is all about. Keep in touch and we will hopefully see you soon for your fifth visit. Vx

We only spent 4 nights on Vomo, but enjoyed every second.

We deliberately chose Australian school holidays, hoping it would be a bit quieter. It probably was, but not entirely. The children were just smaller :-) - under school age, but this wasn't a problem at all. The resort is big enough for everyone to spread out. We saw the staff of the Kids Club looking after many of the children and everyone having a great time.

Definitely get a hillside villa if you are a couple (more private, out of the 'action'), and a beachside villa if with children. Naturally there's a bit of an uphill climb if you are in the upper hillside villas (not much!) - ask if in doubt.

The grounds of the resort proper are level and almost manicured, and there are huge spaces to wander, and plenty of beaches to go around! Not many people seemed to go beyond the resort area proper - probably because of their small children. We wandered all over the island and rarely met anyone else.

The restaurant and meals are very good.

Staff are fantastic - every one.

Difficult to find any fault. Probably a lot more could be done with the area outside the resort. I understand bikes are planned (excellent idea) and better signage would help 'explorers'.

We would have loved the opportunity to hire a crewed boat or be part of a day boat tour of the waters around Vomo, and adjacent islands (third party operator, presumably).

Room Tip: Hillside villas for couples (each individual villas) , beachside villas for couples with kids. Vill...

Bula and our sincere thanks for taking the time to post your review. It's great to read that you made the most of the expansive beaches on our island and got out and explored the rest of Vomo. Australasian school holidays are a very busy time for us however our new GM Mark Leslie has a number of exciting development initiatives in the pipeline for this year which will see designated adults areas and a more refined management of the experience for couples and families. We do hope you will keep in touch with us as we will be making lots of news about our improvements set to take place. All the best Vx
