“Perfect location but tired resort”
Reviewed May 7, 2011

we stayed here at the end of april-may for 10 nights with some friends, our adventure started off with our speed boat trip (which turned out to be the supply boat/dingy with outboard motor) this trip was from Vuda Point Marina and we caught the boat at 9pm - its very dark on a boat so small, this was something the resort offers in there brochure & Website. It was great waking up on the island the next day all the traveling done, we had a beach front bure facing the south side of the island. (which was the best side of the island - weather wise- for when it rains & wind we were sheltered).
We had prob with hot water - it was either boiling hot or freezing cold, our friends had trouble with their toilet not flushing, it took 2 days to get the hot water fixed, but the toilet was an ongoing prob. Food was average - over cooked and dry this was for buffet and al acarte - but we found that they had a Flambe room where the food was cooked in front of you - fresh produce - it cost extra $24 p.p. on top of your meal plan - but well worth it - we ate in here 3 times.
As for the resort facilities they need attention the resort looks very tired and run down.
Negatiives: Activity board has daily plan, but not always do the activities take place - ie they had putt putt golf comp. on the board no one ever turned up to do it and when we mentioned it to reception they just ignored us, also spa demo never happened or Flambe demo.
You have to pay for non motorized equipment (but this was advertised as free)
Great new infinity pool but very old looking deck chairs and cushions (that are left out each night in the weather) same on beach they have mats that are all torn full of water from the rain. The deck around the pool area needs work and the 2 kids pools also need attention (never saw anyone clean the pools or test the water). Also spoke to some guest who had bed bug issues (we didn't)but there may be some other types of mites around.
Positives: Good weather, snorkeling great - just off the beach area (also take a snorkeling trip 2hr this is great), night time band singing and dancing - staff also do a singalong (the seagull song is great entertainment each night done by staff and guest)
there are some friendly and helpful staff willing to what ever they can to make your stay enjoyable - mention Mary, Chef Kelly, Alita, Tom & Able in the bar just to mention a few.

Overall the resort is in a great location, great surroundings but management need to updated the tired rooms, common areas and facilities by just adding a bit more attention to detail, even though this is 3 .5 star resort it really should be 2.5-3, as i would prob put Plantation Island before Treasure. (sometimes what you see in brochure is not what you always get) We did a day trip to Castaway & Malolo and they look more inviting (yes they may be a littler dearer). Also make sure you check your bill before leaving.
On a final note we had a great time with our friends and made our own fun, probably would not return to Treasure unless some major work has been done to the facilities etc. Forgot to mention Senikas Spa is well worth the treatment you receive.

When we arrived at treasure Island we had no idea there was a cyclone warning until we asked about water activities... But that afternoon the rain came and gave it away. There is little to do at Treasure island when it is raining. Although we did look forward to our games of bingo we had twice a day. There were activities however, done once, you didn't want to do again.

The rooms have recently been upgraded but they didn't replace the air conditioner (at least in our room), so sleeping was hard with the very loud noise it makes. Also no TV is a downside when there is rain and nothing to do.

The food was basic but enjoyable, I enjoyed the Al La Carte rather then the buffet, however my partner preferred the buffet.

On our second last day, the sun was beaming and it was the most beautiful day. We made the most of it by going scuba-diving, which was amazing. The further you go out the more beautiful it is. We also went para-sailing and banana Boat riding (which for a clutz like me is a little dangerous, as i broke my little finger). Para-sailing was breath-taking and you could see turtles from up in the air.

We stayed here after staying at the Coral Coast, and we both agreed when we come back we will stay at Manamuca Islands again. This is a highly recommended place, especially if the weather is good, and even more if you have children.

Having stayed at Treasure Island in 2009 for my 40th with family, we couldn't wait to return to this piece of paradise and so the next excuse to do so is via a family relo who is also turning 40 this year and wanting to return here.

Seriously, the $AUD is making this place (considering its recent upgrade in March 2011 as well) very attractive again so we have booked for August 2011.

Our kids are all aged b/w 10-12 and the island staff are legitimate in caring for them at all times. It's quite real that the simple things can often keep them very occupied and content on an island which is quite small. But don't take that away from them.....

Like most things, there are the negatives and one of them was the lack of variety of the menu, but I believe this may have changed so we are also looking forward to the varied menu.

All up - very good value for your dollar and worth a visit!

We (me, hubby, 20 & 17 yo sons, 18 yo daughter) stayed at Treasure 20-28 April. Had an amazing time. Arrived late at night, to "welcome home" greetings from all we met. Very quick check in with a nice cool drink.
Our bure was near the chapel, not a refurb, this did not worry us however. The beach directly out from our bure was beautiful, with great snorkeling.
All of our meals were fabulous. We had expected average food due to some reviews read here. The meals were served promptly, with great presentation. Drinks were fantastic, again quite quick to arrive. This was our 3rd visit to Fiji so we know to expect Fiji time, however this was not an issue here.
The nightly entertainment was wonderful. My favorite being the staff singing and dancing. The seagull dance is a great laugh every night (anyone who has seen this will know what I mean) and the farewell song a really nice touch.
The resort overall is showing signs of age, but we loved it there for the beautiful surroundings and snorkelling, and the amazing Fijian staff.
There are many daily activities including herbal medicine, basket weaving, cocktail mixing, kava ceremonies, sulu lessons, coconut husking, fish feeding, kayaks, etc. You can do as much or as little as you like.
If you are looking for luxury, this would not be the place for you. If you are looking for 3-4 star accomodation, relaxation, beautiful, caring Fijian staff, great snorkeling and a fun time, this may be suited.
For anyone concerned about being "overun with children". We found that we only saw some children at meal times, and at the nightly entertainment. Very rarely saw many around as kids club kept them very busy. Some guests we talked to said they were very impressed with kids club.
We have stayed at Mana twice before, and I find it hard to say which of the two is better. Treasure did feel that bit more personal, as there were not as many people on the island.
Overall we loved treasure, and would definitely visit again.

We had a lovely time at Treasure Island over the Easter long weekend. It's a small island, so everyone has a beachfront bure with a nice hammock - It's quite idyllic! There's a lot of sea life to see while snorkeling. Plus, our kids had a blast in the pool and on the beach full of shells, etc. Most of the staff were friendly. Our only complaint was the food. At times I thought that the kids' food was way better than the adults'. So, after a few days, it kind of felt like we were getting ripped off because some of the dishes were so laughable. Also, if there is a witness protection program in Fiji, we were convinced that the Omelette Man at Treasure Island is part of it, because he can definitely NOT cook eggs and he looks grumpier than even the lady at reception, and she was pretty grumpy. But, those couple negatives aside, Treasure Island has a good thing going for it.

My partner and I are just checking out of 'Treasure'. As our title indicates, it is in a fantastic location, close to Nadi and a cute little island.

Unfortunately, it is tired... Not just the facilities, which have fallen a long way behind the times and feel like you are in a retired servicemens club, but the people too... Many of them have been working here for decades, and it shows. They don't have enthusiasm for anything - including the greetings (which are a great though I must say!), the general demeanour around the place, and more than anything, the food.

We were both sick as a result of the food, and weren't surprised. There is very little care taken in its preparation - I shudder to think of what the kitchen would look like!

Dont' stay here if you are kid adverse... ;-)

It really is a pity, as the place has everything going for it otherwise. All of the issues above notwithstanding - we still have a very nice, relaxing time here... it could just be OH so much better!

Oh - check you bill as you leave!

We stayed at treasure island for 6 nights in July. We travel a fair bit and wanted somewhere to relax. Just what was wanted! The hotel is nice and the staff are amazing. You do have to get in early and request an outside table for dinner though. The kids club would be the reason i recommend this place. It was outstanding. Activities after activities. Our 3 year old did not want to know us the whole time. Snorkelling, crab races, banana boat riding. You name it they got the kids doing it. Well done treasure island.
