A perfect spot for a relaxing getaway from it all holiday. The Sunset pool Villas are amazing, each with it's own plunge pool and magnificent beachfront position. A daybed and loungers included. Immaculately clean and kept so by the wonderful housekeeping service we couldn't fault the venue. The restaurant and pools are in a marvellous setting. Staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. The food can be a little monotonous. Fijian food can be a bit bland, could do with more tasty seasoning and some imagination with the range of dishes but overall Tokoriki is a stunning place which we really enjoyed, stayed for a week in a Sunset Pool Villa.

My now-husband and I were looking to book our honeymoon when we stumbled upon the South Seas Adventures website and began and e-mail dialogue with one of their representatives, Cindy. She gave us about a dozen options within our price range and laid out some of the highlights of each, including many personal experiences since she had visited most of the resorts at one time or another. Finally, after many quickly-responded-to e-mails and even more questions, we decided to go to TokoRiki.

Here's the short version: basically, the resort and island were postcard-perfect and I don't think we could have made a better choice for our honeymoon.

And now for the long version ...

Being one of only two resorts on this small island, we saw only the other 50 or so other guests and the staff, all of whom we saw our entire stay. There were no children there during our stay and the rest of the guests were comprised almost entirely of couples celebrating their honeymoon or wedding anniversary. It was the epitome of a peaceful vacation for this reason and, in part, because there were also no televisions, radios or phones in the rooms. A few of the guests had a hard time unplugging from technology, but my husband and I relished the fact that there were no televisions or clocks in the resort ... although there were phones and an internet connection if you really needed them.

The entire resort was kept immaculate and our bure was the picture of island comfort. For lunch and dinner, an acoustic guitarist played mostly American covers and took requests. Each night, the staff had an activity available if you wanted some nightlife or socialization. The two my husband and I attended were the international crab races and a traditional kava ceremony, both interesting and fun.

Because we saw the same people our entire stay, we were able to build a rapport with several staff members, but everyone was friendly and helpful. We couldn't get enough of the welcome and farewell songs they sang whenever anyone arrived or left!

The food was plentiful and filling. We signed up for the meal plan and it made our stay that much more relaxing because we didn't have to worry about racking up a ton of room charges or taking money with us during meal times. I had expected a lot of fresh seafood; instead, we ate a lot of pork and beef and a curry of the day was available at every dinner. The kitchen made sure to provide of variety of options at each meal and everything that I tried, I liked.

We also took advantage of many of the complimentary activities at the resort. Don't miss the trail to the top of the island; we took about a gazillion pictures of the panorama of turquoise water and blue skies that went on as far as the eye could see. We never had a problem getting a kayak when we wanted to explore and the dive staff was SO helpful. I, in the mass confusion before and just after the wedding, had forgotten to pack my scuba certification cards, but Alex and Will looked up my information for me and they got my husband into the pool for a temporary certification. We were diving our second day and dove every day after that. The conditions were perfect: the visibility was amazing and the coral and fish were prolific.

I would also definitely recommend splurging on the helicopter transfer; it was the perfect bookend to our vacation (with more amazing views of the islands of Fiji) and only took about 15 minutes to get back to the Nadi airport ... compared to the 2 hour boat ride that some of the other guests were taking back to the main island.

The only slight annoyance was the marshy smell that occurred at low tide, but this was easily swept away by the breeze that blew almost constantly so it never interfered with our enjoyment of the island and it won't stop us from returning, hopefully next year to celebrate our one year anniversary.

In the end, it was the perfect type of honeymoon for us: relaxing and peaceful, without a rigid schedule of activities ... there was tons of sunshine, plenty of open space to be alone and common areas to meet and socialize with other guests. Overall, just perfect :)

We stayed in a pool villa and is worth the extra with your own plunge pool outside your door, his/her lounges, and a covered day bed. We didn't take the meal plan as we couldn't eat that much food. If you don't want a 2 course lunch and 3 course dinner every day, don't take the plan, just pay as you go. The staff greet you when you arrive, remember your names during your stay, and give you a big sendoff when you leave.
We'll definately be back. Take duty free wine etc to enjoy in your room.

You know you shouldn't always believe what you read.... thank goodness we didn't. Tokoriki was absolutely fantastic and all the reviews we had read before arriving had us cautious, but it couldn't have been better and the reviews more wrong. If you have read negative reviews about Tokoriki's beach or seaweed or food or anything else then don't believe them. They are obviously grumpy, disgruntled customers who don't know how to relax whilst on holiday. Tokoriki is absolutely amazing and compares with any Fiji experience available. The staff were professional and kind, the bures are just great (some of the best) the food was fine and if you really want to pig out do the meal plan. If you are going diving or even snorkelling then don't do the meal plan as you won't be able to get under water with a massive breakfast, two course lunch and three course dinner in your belly, barely room for cocktails and Fiji Bitter.
After a seven day stay, not honey mooners, we wanted at least another three nights. Do your self a favour and stay for 10 days, go diving with Alex and Will, be waited on by Vilisa, Joe, Salome and all the others who make an amazing holiday. Most of all book the waterfront tables for an unforgettable dining experience.
We will be back and will miss you 'till we return. Vinaka

When we arrived to Tokoriki Island Resort I was hesitant to know if I can relax there or not. We arrived early (10:30) and the rooms were not ready. Only to find out that they were setting up our rooms with fresh rose petals and champaign.

I was thinking to myself, small island, what can I possibble do for 4 days here? We were greated by the staff which was super friendly. They even remember our names through out my stay there. The food was excellent. Make sure you buy a meal plan, unless you plan on leaving the island. There is no other places to eat. The dining is exquisite and nice! I just wish they have different breakfast in the morning.

The beach is small but secluded. We rarely saw anyone out there. It is like having a private beach! Snorkeling is amazing out there and the kayaking is fun! The endless pool is so beautiful out there and the part of the island you are facing the sunset. There are no TV's, clocks. or phones in the Bures, which makes it very relaxing. You can do so much or so little and still have fun!

The staff is super friendly, and there is one guy who always sings throughout the day. I give this place 5 stars for service. 5 stars for cleanliness, 4 stars for bugs and insects (what do you expect on an island).

They are right!!! You arrive as a guest and leave as a friend!

We stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon. The place is simply perfect. They resort info states that "our staff are our best asset" and this couldn't have been more true. I'm never the sort of guy to 'befriend' staff as some people insist on doing everywhere they stay ('here's me and pedro' on the holiday snaps etc) but the likes of Joshua, Solomon and Moses made our stay perfect.

The bures are just idyllic, the food varied and spectacular and the ambience of the resort is just so special. I never want to forget the feeling of absolute relaxtion felt at the Tokoriki. Stop looking for where to stay in Fiji, you've found it.
