“Words are not enough to sing it's praises”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Seeing is believing, this tropical paradise lives up to it's expectation. We recently spent five nights here for a bit of peace and relaxation. What a treat, beautiful, comfortably appointed bure and only 50 meters from the clear tropical waters of our own beachfront.
It's the wonderful and genuinely friendly staff that make this island very special and so memorable.
The exceptional food choices is another plus and thoroughly recommend the meal plan. Seems a little excie but value for money. If you can afford it splash out and arrive by helicopter or sea plane, truly a wonderful experience. I could sing it's praises for ever, just go...

Room Tip: Look at getting a suite with private plunge poolp.

What an amazing place! We just came back from four nights and five days at Tokoriki and it really is the most stunningly beautiful place you could imagine. The bluest water you'll see, the most tastefully appointed accommodation, terrific food and gorgeous infinity pool.
But, as everyone else says, it is the staff that really make the holiday as memorable as it is.
Kristiana, the restaurant manager is the most attentive and professional person you could meet. We felt as if we made a friend! What an asset to the property she is! The Band Boys are great fun and very talented, Jerry, our "Round the Island" snorkel guide is a very funny and cool character.
We had a chat with the owner, a super friendly bloke who takes a lot of interest in the details of his operation, which is certainly one of the reasons for its success. The fellow guests we met were without exception charming and interesting. The place has an other-worldly, relaxed vibe. Really extraordinary.
If you are visiting Fiji, you MUST head out to the islands. If you can afford it, Tokoriki has to be the place for yoi to go. It is worth it. They set the bar very high.
A highlight of your stay will be the outdoor shower - absolutely fantastic. And do make the effort to walk to the top of the hill behind the resort. It is a little dangerous, but the views are worth it.
I don't know that being on the meal plan is the best idea - you may end up putting on a little weight and you find yourself eating (delicious) desserts when you would otherwise give them a miss. :-)
The only negative - and I do hesitate to write this - is that there were errors on our bill which totalled a considerable amount. In the hundreds. These were corrected cheerfully, and I hope that our experience there is a rarity.
Once again, an absolutely incredible place. You owe it to yourself to go there. You will not regret it.

My husband and I recently spent most of our honeymoon at Tokoriki, and adored every second of it! We spent 7 nights on the Island, and whilst initially were worried that we might get bored, at the end of the trip we both agreed we easily could have spent an extra few days there, it was that gorgeous.

Arriving at Tokoriki was like arriving in Paradise. We were immediately welcomed stepping off the boat to the wonderful sounds of the Tokoriki team singing us a gorgeous welcome song (you will hear it a lot during your stay, and it always puts a smile on your face!) and refreshing cool drink.

We have so many positive things to say, so will split it up based on the main parts of the resort:

Rooms
We stayed in a beachfront bure, which had plenty of space and was always clean. We loved the outdoor shower, never using the indoor one, and the little foot bath to wash off sand when coming in from the beach was a great touch. The rooms are extremely comfortable, nicely decorated and are beautiful and light during the day, and completely dark at night. It was over 30 degrees most days we stayed at Tokoriki and not once did we use the air con, the rooms managed to stay the perfect temperature. We were more than happy using the infinity pool in the main area, or the beach, and didn't need a room with a private plunge pool (although they did look gorgeous!), so the beachfront bure was perfect.

Spa
The spa is lovely and we purchased the 3 day unlimited massage plan while we were there. It doesn't necessarily have to be 3 consecutive days, and the massages all go for 30-45 mins.

Activities
If you love the water, the beach is incredible (we probably spent more time swimming in the beach than in the pool!). There are plenty of complimentary water activities, snorkelling, kayaks, catamaran's, paddle boards, etc. We recommend doing the extended snorkelling trips (on Thursdays and Sundays when we were there), where Jerry takes you out to his "special" spot. The colours you see from the coral and fish, are incredible. There are also daily activities the resort puts on each day, as well as tennis (both grass and table), hiking up the mountain and a reading bure, which has a small library, a big chess board and other board games. There is also Kava, it's worth giving it a go, and if you stick around late enough, get them to play the goat song, it's like "Old Macdonald", but the Fijian version, and was hilarious!!

Food
We purchased the meal plan, and though neither of us are big eaters, the food is so good, you somehow find space for most of it! We were happy most days with the continental buffet for breakfast, but it's definitely worth trying the Fiji style pancakes and Fiji style french toast! We often had a share plate for lunch, and sandy ice cream was a given for us as one of the desserts each day (it's truly as good as it is made out to be!). We found that the menu had plenty of variety, and the items that are on the menu each day, tend to be things that you are happy to eat more than once during your stay. Book yourself in for dinner at Oishii, it was so much fun! We had both Lucy and Jimmy Bones, who cooked beautiful food, and "Mama" makes sure you never go thirsty! All three were so entertaining, we had the best time! We had the oceanfront dinner on our last night, which was really nice and private. Make sure you take home your personalised menu!

The Band Boys
When reading up on Tokoriki initially, we weren't sure how it would be having the band boys serenade your table each night... Once we got there, we instantly fell in love with them! They are so talented and the range of songs they know is incredible. We always waited around after dinner if they hadn't got to our table yet to hear them sing. Josua also plays the guitar and sings during lunch, which is a really nice touch. Buy their CD if you enjoy hearing them each dinner, it's a nice reminder of Tokoriki when you get home. A special mention to Josua, who I just adored during our entire stay, he is a gorgeous person!

The People
Everybody had told us just how friendly all Fijian people are, and it's true. But the people at Tokoriki take it to a completely different level. What helps makes Tokoriki stand apart from any other place were the people. Every single person is so lovely, always ready with a friendly Bula, and a huge smile. They work long hours but always seem so happy and go out of their way to make sure the guests have everything they need. A big part of the Tokoriki charm is the people, saying goodbye to such beautiful people was the only downside to the trip!

Thank you to everyone at Tokoriki, we had the most incredible honeymoon and can't wait to one day come back. Vinaka!!

Recently returned from our 11th trip to beautiful Tokoriki Island resort. My wife and I travel the world on business and pleasure staying at top class hotels and resorts, but nothing compares to Tokoriki Island Resort for hanging out in idyllic tropical island surroundings set in beautiful gardens and dripping in friendly Fiji style service and relaxation.
The accomodation is excellent in individual beachside bures or if you want a bit of extra luxury jump into a Sunset Villa with its own seperate sitting room, deck, plunge pool and day bed. All are adjacent to the white sandy beach looking across to the neighbouring islands - heaven!
The central pool and restaurant area is sumptuous - you can chat, read, eat and do all the other vegging out activities that go with a tropical island chill out. Being a scuba diver I just love the numerous great dive sites close by the island. UK x-pats Will and Alex run the dive shop and spoil everyone with their friendly Fijian team. Very professional and very good.
The food is great and compliments to Managers Robert and Patrice for all the ongoing improvements - it just keeps getting better every time we visit. The owners are also committed to lifting the standard constantly. But the Fijian staff, most of whom reside on the neighbouring island - are just sensational. Talk about a home away from home.
We continue to travel the world to exotic luxurious places, but we always come back to Tokoriki at least once a year - it is simply paradise with a unique mix of beauty, laid back luxury and unbelievable friendliness. Simply Paradise!

Room Tip: All self contained bures are good quality and well maintained. The Sunset Villas are great (particul...

We arrived from Port Denarau by boat, the 1.5 Hr journey terminating in a boat to boat transfer at sea, for the final 5 minute leg to the island. Other options include sea plane and helicopter.

On arrival we were greeted by live music and an amazing 'family' of friendly staff, all of whom, without exception, ensured we had a comfortable stay. They have a no tipping policy on the island, so all friendliness was genuine.

All rooms are beachfront bungalows, with: indoor & outdoor shower, spacious bathroom, local coconut based toiletries, great a/c, empty fridge, ironing board, gowns, safe, quality hair dryer and separate seating area. The terrace had two sun loungers, a hammock and magnificent sea views, being yards from the sand.  No TV's or phones in the rooms, but there is a TV room and PC in the main reception, if really needed.

WiFi around the pool was efficient and free but wasn't available in the rooms.

Two pools, a small sea water and large infinity fresh water, the latter blending in with the Fijian sea and magnificent views across to the neighbouring islands.

Free facilities include: canoes, wind surfers, snorkel trips, tennis courts, table tennis and lots of music personally played each evening by the resident band at your dining table.

Meals were all freshly served to order with a constantly changing menu and lots of choice. The only buffet being breakfast. We opted for an inclusive meal plan, giving us: breakfast and a choice of both 2 course lunch and 3 course dinner daily. No restrictions, just order anything from the a la carte menu. Drinks were reasonably priced.

Meals are served al fresco around the pool.

This was without doubt amongst the most friendliest and relaxing places I have visited and we would love to return.

On departure day they made an effort to keep the room available but if not allow complimentary access to a day room. That's important if you have an evening boat.

My advice is forget the other islands, just book Tokoriki.

My husband and I recently returned from our wedding/honeymoon in Fiji, spending 8 nights at Tokoriki Island Resort. We chose to arrive by sea plane and it is well worth the money. As soon as you arrive on the Island you feel part of the Tokoriki family. A warm welcome including a lay, drink and song by staff members. We were also met by Nuimaia, who is the wedding co-cordinator. He really did make our special day amazing and it was stress-free as every detail had been organised, which meant we could really enjoy the day. We stayed in a sunset pool villa which was absolutely gorgeous with private plunge pool. The sunsets you see from these villas are wonderful and even better when sitting in the plunge pool. From our doorstep, the beautiful beach was only metres away. We were able to get some beautiful pictures of our wedding which took place outside our villa and then down on the beach...truly memorable!! We were able to snorkel right off the beach over the coral reefs. There are plenty of activities to do and we would recommend the Honeymoon picnic where you have the whole island to yourself and again the snorkelling is fantastic with some beautiful tropical fish to be spotted! We cannot fault the hospitality of this wonderful team at Tokoriki Island Resort. Kristiana in the restaurant was fantastic, along with Big Joe and his amazing cocktails. Also a big shout out to the BandBoys who always had smiles on their faces and were fantastic entertainment throughout dinner. Thank you to Vili and Lai who played at our wedding too! However, all the staff were attentive and acknowledged us by our names our entire stay.We chose to do the meal plan and it really is worth it - The variety of food within the menus was fantastic, we really could not fault any meal we had at Tokoriki and the menus were different every day. Tokoriki Sandy Ice cream is a must try - the best dessert ever! Tokoriki Island Resort and all the staff will always have a special place in our hearts as it was our wedding destination. We will definitely be returning!
