“Our special holiday destination”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Navini Island has become our home away from home after many visits over the years. My sister, brother in law and I enjoy at least one holiday a year on Navini and some years we squeeze in a second visit. We always feel that we are going home when we arrive and meet with our long time friends who live on Navini. This year I took my family, including Grandchildren so that they could experience the joy of our special place. I wasnt disappointed in their reaction!
Being a busy professional person, I find that to arrive at Navini is the relaxation that is so appreciated after a busy year. In no time you unwind and can do as much as you wish.
Fishing, snorkelling, Island tripping - or laying on a lounger on the beach - everything is here.
The food offered is fantastic and we especially enjoy the communial dining where we have met so many wonderful people from all corners of the world.

We returned a year after our first visit to enjoy the relaxation, snorkelling and the lovely ladies that look after us so kindly.

This visit we had friends staying there at the same time which made for a great time - lots of laughs and buddies to sit with at meal times. We also met up with 2 guests that stayed next door to us same time last year, so we had a nice little group.

We went on their snorkelling trip just off Navini and also to Plantation / Musket Cove. This was a great morning just looking around, (MC's boutique has nice shopping), and then an early cocktail and back on the boat back to Navini for lunch.

We stayed in Bure #6 this time and were very happy.

Vinaka to all at Navini ~

We stayed for the second time at the end of June 2013 for 6 nights and will definately return every two years! This Island is one of the smallest Fijian Islands and can be walked around in 12 min. From the minute you step onto Navini your stress disappears and a feeling of total relaxation takes over. Its Nature at its best, with great shell collecting, snorkelling, swimming and NON -invasive activities like Kayaking and Paddle boarding to pass your time. Just laying about on the sunlounges in the day reading and watching the incredible sunsets in the early evening is my idea of "The Good Life".
We had the same bure as last time and were thrilled that it hadnt changed. Love the fresh Hibiscus flowers each day :). The bure was very clean as usual and the cleaning staff were so friendly and considerate of our privacy.
We were greeted so warmly and looked after brilliantly by the staff and loved sitting after dinner each night chatting to them and the other guests ,while those who choose to, played Vidi Vidi and tried Kava.Miss you Vaulina! VINAKA.
Only two things I must mention: As we are Empty Nesters I was disappointed there were so many children on the island at one time. The day we left there were 13. I love kids , but this island is extremely small and "Noise" carries. For those in our position try to book in Australian school terms rather than School holidays or on the fringe of them. Something we will remember in the future.
The other thing was: the Cyclone damage under water. I am an avid snorkeller and was devastated at the damage to the reef ,as I had seen it two years ago in all its GLORY. BUT, on saying this, I began to watch each day the beautiful marine life going about repairing it and their individual jobs in this fascinating underwater world and once again was blown away.
So another fantastic holiday at Navini Island for us. To Simone and Tueta and Julie.... Vinaka, lovely people. We are already looking forward to our next stay with you :) xx

Room Tip: As there only ten Bures you will find something to suit your needs. I believe all have their own p...

We have just returned from the most wonderful 5 days on Navini Island. We travelled with 5 children aged between 9 and 13 and all had an amazing time. Not once was the television or computer missed. We ate, swam, snorkelled, kayaked, played volleyball, soccer and at night played family charades in the dining room and card and board games with the staff. We loved the island so much that we only took one day trip, to the local school, which was well worth it. Our children loved meeting and playing with the local school children.
Our two bures were cleaned beautifully every day and the meals were tasty and plentiful. Not restaurant quality but home cooked style. A tip would be to pack some nibblies to have with a sunset drink as by 5pm we were all hungry and there was only biscuits, chips or nuts to buy at the little shop.
The staff were all so friendly and attentive and our kids loved them.
My only criticisms would be the quality of the linen, it was a bit hot and cheap feeling, and the fact that if you dont arrive at meals early your party may be split onto one of the three different tables. This may not bother some, however, we would have preferred not to have had to worry about that. But really, these are minor issues, and we had the most wonderful time due to the beauty of the island and the wonderful staff. Thank you to everyone on Navini and we cant wait to return.

We have just spent the most peaceful, relaxing 5 days here. Comfortable bures, helpful friendly staff, and amazing sunsets. We chose the 3 meal food package, which is more than adequate, often 3 choices for every course. The Island is small enough to provide total privacy if you wish for that, or communal meals to meet new friends each day. We also elected to have a romantic meal on the beach one night, under the stars with candlelight, feet in the sand, a magical experience. The staff are always there to help with all water activities, and provided excursions each day free of charge, snorkelling, swimming, fishing & visits to other Islands if you wished. The kayaks, catamarans & paddle boards were all very modern & well maintained. We loved our time here!!

Room Tip: we would choose the south side rooms as swimming is easier there at all tides.

Just returned from 10 days on this great little island. We last visited 25 years ago and not a lot has changed except from the vegetation which has now grown fantastically to create a tropical feeling along with adding privacy to the bures and making for more gorgeous photos. The staff are so accommodating and friendly, nothing is a bother and this just adds to Navinis totally relaxed ambience.
This is an island on which to relax and do very little. Planned activity in the morning, could be a visit to nearby island or snorkelling on another reef or fishing. Afternoon maybe try paddle boarding, kayaking or hobie cat or simply snoozing and reading. Come 4.30 and the call comes for volleyball. Be as active/ inactive as you want.
The south side of the island has the best beach at present as most of the sand from the north beach has gone. Reef shoes are a great idea for walking around the island as the coral is pretty hard on the feet. Very sadly the cyclone in December has had a devastating effect on the home reef and the coral has been badly damaged. Fish life though still abounds and we were lucky enough to see turtles and manta rays reef sharks and beautiful fish. Hopefully the coral will recover. Visits to Honeymoon Island, sand cay and inner reefs have fabulous snorkelling with loads of coral to be seen in these locations.
Food is plentiful and chef was only too happy to cater to special wants and needs. This is not 5 or even 4 star, but very acceptable and delicious meals with lots of variety. Loved the coffee ice cream and baked cheesecake. Lots of fish and chicken and beef and always a vegetarian option.
The communal dining made for interesting meal times with many guests coming from varied countries. On our visit we met 5 couples who were all returning guests. This speaks volumes for the appeal of this very special island!
Accomodation is simple with south side bures mainly being duplex style, north side stand alone. The advantage of south side is proximity to the fab beach, but the walk from north is only couple of minutes anyway. North facing has wonderful sunsets.
Evening entertainment with the staff playing vidi vidi and drinking kava was lots of fun and so friendly.
Loved our stay and it really was hard to leave. Can't wait to return.
Thank you to all on Navini.

Room Tip: South side for beach proximity. North side for fab sunsets

We have visited Navini twice since I last wrote a review of Navini. I noticed a reviewer stated it was not a resort and that is the big plus. Navini is like visiting friends who are lucky enough to own a beautiful island paradise. We were at Navini at Christmas and NewYear just after cyclone Evan and it really looked like a bushfire had gone through with the vegetation usually so lush all gone with only sticks and tree trunks left standing. The beach was magnificent with so much sand deposited over it and the lagoon which was the most amazing turquoise color, this was to the detriment of the beautiful reef which was covered with sand and smashed by waves. The bures came through with no damage except some peeling paint and gutter damage to a few. The friendly old world charm of Navini, the wonderful staff and many familiar faces among the guests soon had us feeling so happy to be back.We had friends and family traveling with us which made it very special. Christmas dinner was a wonderful affair and New Years Eve fantastic. Starting with cocktails at sunset on the beach to witness the last sunset of 2012 and ending with fireworks at midnight, amazing. The weather was perfect and we never felt we could have done with an air conditioner, the louver windows around the bure allow plenty of ventilation and you don't need to pull the curtains all the bures are very private.
We recently returned from another visit in May and the change to the scenery was dramatic. The vegetation had grown back to be even more lush than before the cyclone. The lagoon was back to normal with less sand and the reef showing signs of recovery. Still lots to see with many big fish and turtles and of course the beautiful baby sharks cruising the shoreline. They won't hurt you, they are very shy and swim away. We caught up with some fellow posters on this site who we have got to know from previous visits. Navini is special ;if you want a western style glam resort, forget it if you want a warm, friendly Fijian experience then you should love it.
No excuses for not finding what you are after at Navini, you need to do your homework wherever you go and this site is perfect for that. So many, many positive reviews more than outweigh the very few negative ones. Stay as you are Navini, perfect.
