“We will be back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

We had a wonderful time at Mana (stayed from 15 May to 22 May).

we were upgraded to room 401 which is the closest Ocean View Bure to the water and it was more than comfortable for a family of four (two children 4 and 3). The island itself is beautiful, in particular North Beach is a wonderful place for snorkeling (unfortunately South Beach was rather choppy our entire stay).

The resort itself is nice, although it may be a little run down in parts I personally found this added to the appeal as it comes across as a bit rustic, furthermore improvements are underway with a new reception/waiting room being built as well as plans to build a new pool.

Food wise we ate 3 times at the South Beach Restaurant and this was nice, we also had a few meals at Ratu kinis which was also pretty good, while the dinner buffet which we tried once was a bit average. Breakfast was fine with a reasonable amount of variety, while the VoliVoli cafe by the pool made reasonable wraps for a light lunch.

Our kids really enjoyed the kids club and there was a wide variety of activities to keep them occupied, the play ground in itself was really good.

Mana Island is a beautiful place and the staff are great people, yes there are areas that may need a little TLC however it does not take away from the overall appeal of this beautiful place.

My husband and I went to Fiji to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and our honeymoon that we never had. This was the second place we stayed at and we were not overjoyed by our experience. The Resort and Island itself is very run down and there is a lot they need to improve on and fix on the island and at the resort. The jetty you walk onto when you arrive is only half there and they are still fixing this and so first impressions are not great. The room itself was lovely inside but outside very run down and on the South side of the island the views are not great and the seaweed is smelly. There is no hammocks at the resort, no maintenance on the beaches and the staff are not very friendly or helpful. They take your plates away at the buffet before you have finished your last mouthful and we had a mini cyclone while we were there and our room flooded and it took them 4 hours to come and fix it for us and give us fresh towels. The adults pool is right next to kids pool so it is pointless as you can still hear them screaming, the adults pool is very small and there is no service around the pool from wait staff. The edge of the pool is all torn and the cement all worn and so looks nothing like what is on their website. The food is very ordinary and I would not pay more to eat at the restaurant as the buffet was better than the restaurant. The tours they do are great and so recommend them, bingo at 5pm is fun. The entertainment each night is ok but they need to it earlier than 9pm every night. The spa is amazing. The beach was nice to swim in every day and the vuews on the north side are great but this resort needs a lot of work and I would stay at any of the other islands in this group before Mana Island.

Room Tip: I would not stay where we did in the honeymoon bures as you have to buggy everywhere and it is annoy...

My husband and I stayed March this year in a deluxe ocean view bure. Our bure was very spacious with a seating area looking out to the deck, gardens and beach beyond. There didn't appear to be many others staying in these bures as was extremely quiet. The adults only pool is a great drawcard and the day beds under the thatching were perfect.
The north beach restaurant was closed during our stay for renovation so we ate at the south beach restaurant for all meals. Breakfast was hit and miss but the dinner was okay.
Evening entertainment was excellent and created a fun environment.
Make sure you do the Sea Spray day trip out to Modriki Island - this is an absolute highlight.
We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Room Tip: definitely pay more to upgrade to a deluxe ocean view bure

Mana Island Resort Fiji ticked most of the boxes for a relaxing island holiday. The island is glorious with white, sandy beaches, crystal clear water and great snorkelling. Our beach front room was clean, if not a little dated. The staff are kind and very friendly. The Mana Island Spa was delightful and a real bargain. I hate to have to report though that the food was below average. The buffet breakfast was unappealing, most of the dishes were luke warm, bordering on cold. The buffet dinner was very expensive and not worth the money. Most nights we dined at the South Beach Restaurant, where the menu was repetitive and bland. Food is never a major concern to me on a holiday and I am very easily pleased but most nights I could not finish my dinner. Wanting to end my review on a high note, the snorkelling was a treat, particularly on South Beach and the South Beach Bar was a fantastic place to spend a beautiful sunny Fiji day. I can also thoroughly recommend the spa, well worth the visit.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms with a beach view would be amazing. Pack your own snacks!

We stayed on Mana Island last August and had the most wonderful holiday with our two boys, 9 and 12 at the time. The Fijians were so incredibly welcoming and genuinely warm, from the reception staff to restaurant staff, and kids' club. The kids' club was fantastic even though my older son was at the upper age limit. The kids' club staff really love their jobs and the kids feel this. Such a beautiful island. Big enough to take about 3 hours to walk around. Sunset beach is just stunning, and the views over the other islands are magical. We stayed in an ocean view suite which was huge, and it was very good value for money. Snorkelling was incredible. We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ocean view suite was fantastic.

After lots of research decided to have first family holiday with kids aged 5, 2.5 & 18 months old for 7 nights at Mana resort. Great choice we couldn't find any faults (not major anyway) with resort.

Beach
We spent most of our time in south beach which was the calmest and right beside our accommodation. Beautiful white sand, lots of sun lounges, bar, great choice of inflatables in ocean, helpful staff by the water, interesting snorkelling, safe for kids. North beach was always more choppy but has better snorkelling.

Only down was sea lice (small type of jelly) which stung me a lot & were v itchy, put me off going into the water without a wet suit. My husband and kids didn't seem too badly effected so guess it's how your body reacts to them. :(

Pool
Great shallow area for little ones, could do with more sun loungers.

Diving
Used the mana resort to do 4 dives, they are very competent and safety aware, the diving is enjoyable with grey reef sharks, black tips, white tips, lots of different fish and few turtles, good vis. Relaxing diving if your getting back into it.

Food
The breakfast buffet was good but the lunch & dinner buffet were average. The al la carte menu @ south beach restaurant was great and better priced than the buffet. The backpackers are v kid friendly and we ate a lot for lunch and dinner their, fair prices and tasty food. I didn't feel this was worth taking a star off but we found a 6/630pm dinner time too late for our kids to eat. The pool snack menu didn't entice our kids which could work for some families to eat earlier. TOP TIP: take a big suitcase of all snacks you can think of.

There is a bit of walking around the resort which I didn't mind as it burnt off all the cocktails! Do take a push chair for kids as they soon become tired.

Room Tip: 600 split level blocks well worth extra money for families or couples wanting higher standard room...
