Just back from 4 nights at Plantation Island Island. We had a great holiday but as you would expect satisfing a wife and three daughters 20 ,15 and 12 you can't please everybody all the time but it came very close ! Great staff welcome at the jetty singing necklases from there we were escorted off to the bar given a welcome juice as we walked through we were told a few things along the way people at the back would have heard very little. We sat there for a while with our juice wondering what was happening as our escort had disappeared but he returned shortly and took us to our rooms.
We had booked a Beachfront Bure requested a 200 series (after reading reviews on this site thanks) and we got bure 218 We also booked an upstairs hotel room cheapest level as 5 could not stay in BF bure But this room had been upgraded to deluxe garden suite which was way better quality than the Beachfront Bure highest price room So happy 20 year old ! This room was quite nice decore was a little old but much newer than our Bure this was very basic but the beachfront location made up for any short coming that is what we had wanted so we were happy. The air con did struggle to cool the bure as there was so many gaps in windows and doors. We did plan to relax but found ourselves doing activities every day snorkeling trip did 2 free trips 1 at high tide 1 at low tide both amazing and different so many fish found nemo so happy 12 year old
chinese cemetery tour done by 15 year which was interesting to her so she was happy
Village visit and basket weaving lesson were great so wife was happy.Food wise was a little bit of a mixed bag our first night we were keen to do the lovo feast but by the time we got to dinner while there was plenty of food it was all hot or cold but the opposite of what it should have been. My advise would be get there early right a start time and still be carefull . We ordered A La carte for the rest of our meals. We were glad we did not do any of the pre payed meal plan as 1 day we skipped breakfast an 2 lunches we just had burgers and sandwiches salads beside the boat shed which was good value.Unfortunately Anandas restaraunt was not open while we were there quiet time apparently.
My wife and did enjoy valentines day dinner at Lomanis adults only resort 300 mtrs up the beach this was magic only couples eating there, great food ,great music ,great service
We thought the drink prices were quite reasonable we mainly drank fiji gold with dinner
and enjoyed our duty free in our room (grab bags of ice as you need from the bar )
Main tips do not forget to take sunscreen, rid etc prices for thes were crazy.
Also walk to Anandas shop near airport things there were incredibly cheap.
.We had read reviews re bill errors and had kept tabs and it was spot on .Staff were all great had expected Fiji time service but every thing was pretty quick.
Overall we had a great time would loved to have stayed much much longer.

Yes this was our second trip to Plantation, the first trip was six years ago and I'm pleased to say it was as good as the first.......

The first trip was with my wife and the second was with my eldest son (20) and his girlfriend who also enjoyed their time at plantation.

The beauty of this place is you can do as much or as little as you like, the activities are fine and are great to fill time when you've had enough reading your book in the hammock by the beach.

I have no complaints about the staff, the food or the facilities and please remember this is not a five star resort on paper but it is five star in my eyes.

We stayed at Plantation from the 19th to the 25th January. I went with my mum and my 11 year old son. Have never been to Fiji before so this was my first time. The week before we left was the week of the floods. We were not sure whether to cancel or not as i was constantly getting calls from my mum telling me to put such and such channel on to see the latest news. I must say the media really hyped things up. We took the chance and it really payed off for us. We had the aeroplane practically to ourselves and the resort which was only 15% full. I read alot of reviews before i went some good and some bad. We had perfect weather there and it rained for 2 hours one afternoon which was a godsend as it was stinking hot. Plantation is a beautiful island. The lagoon was absolutely crystal clear, have never seen anything like it. The pools were ok too. I must say though that the floods did work to our advantage as i am not sure if we would have had such a good time if the resort was full as there would have been too many people around. We stayed in a garden room on the 200 side. The accomodation was clean apart from the dirty sheets when we arrived. We pointed it out to a maid outside and she really got her back up and started storming around the room ripping sheets off and changing them. I know it is a 3 star resort but i dont think clean sheets is too much to ask for! The food was very average. I expected more tropical fruit but all we got meal after meal was watermelon, paw paw and pineapple. I was so sick of it after a few days. The birds do eat out of the sugar bowls which put me off a bit but i suppose you have to expect that in the tropics. There are cats on the island and what disturbed me was how skinny they were. We befriended a cat called "Slurpee" and invited her in our room for milk. She was so hungry she even ate the leftover cake crumbs i was holding for the fish. It was our mission to track her down every night and feed her. Overall it was a very relaxing holiday, the staff were nice but i dont think i would go back. Maybe try a different island next time.

At first we were terrified because the weather report said it was the worst weather in ten years with flooding and Fiji was in a state of emergency.. We tried to cancel, but it was too late, we were on our way to Plantation Island Fiji. When we finally made it to Plantation Island it was plain to see it had been raining for quite a few days, but despite all the trauma tthe staff must of endured we were still welcomed with smiles and excellent service. During our threee days on plantation Island we experieinced one perfect day and that was mind blowingly incredible. Our entire stay was fantastic, despite the weather, but that one day of perfect weather was a day that I and my family will never ever forget. The friendliness of the staff made all the difference, as well as the wonderful food and all the Island activities. There is so much to do, even if it is raining!!! We are so glad we couldn't cancel. because we had the time of our lives and we cant wait ot go back.

We stayed for a week 3rd to 10th of January 2009. We had a two bedroom bure (409) which was located at the far end of the resort right next to Anandas Restaurant and Supermarket. Had four fine warm days and then the rain started (more on that later). The Bure we had was one of the new renovated ones. It was vary large, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large lounge area. The unit had a small fridge(about 30 years old!) and as the tap water is unfit for drinking they give you a water cooler (would recommend buying bottle water as hygiene in these coolers seems poor especially when being filled).
Food - We pre purchased three meals a day. They have this voucher system operating. On arrival we were given a voucher for each meal. When we sat down we gave the waitress that voucher, then they gave us two more to exchange for Main Course and Dessert when we went up to the buffet, Crazy and frustrating. The food is poor. Breakfast is ok if you have the full breakfast where you get a choice of eggs, bacon and pancakes etc but continental is very basic. Lunch there is a buffet or a snack menu, go the snack menu as buffet seems to be 're invented' food from last night. Dinner is themed buffets or Alacarte (additional charge). Some of the themes are very poor. Hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. Birds land and eat off the buffet, we had dirty plates set on our table and all the bar areas and lighting above the dining tables is filthy. This is an old resort and really really needs a renovation. The whole food area is enough to make you sick just looking at it.
We ate a lot at Ananda's. They give you a $25 Credit for your adult voucher against any meals. Food is better and cooked fresh. If your lucky the dwarf guitarist will sing. They were also really great with the kids.
Pools - Three. One as mentioned by others has a mosiac type floor and the tiles are sharp. Waterslide pool is a bit dodgy one guy cut his shoulder going down quite badly.
As mentioned the weather turned really bad on our stay. The resort flooded and we had to wade up to reception and the unit next door had sewage coming up into their room The tiles around the main areas of the resort get really slippery when wet.
The wharf snapped in half, all the beachfront areas (including the restaurant and beachfront bures) were boarded up and all the water sports were cancelled. The beach has been destroyed by the weather and by bulldozers pushing the sand up to protect the resort from flooding.
To get out we were transferred to Musket Cove Marina.

What a Fantasic Hoilday we have just come back from 7 days in paradise, it really is just like a postcard.
The staff at plantation Island have got to be one of the most friendlest people in the world. the service was fantastic nothing was to much bother.
The accomadation was very good with air conditioning which was serviced every day.
There was a lot of activities to do and was very well organised the snorkling and dolphin watching was great as well as the boat with the glass bottom so you could see all of the fish and the coral.
New Years Eve was good, it was a shame that the music blew but the fireworks were fantastic.
The food was great the breakfast and dinner meal plan is all that you need as there is plenty food to eat, we just went to the shop and bought bread and butter for lunch or went to the cafe for hot chips, hotdogs etc.
This is a great Island for people with kids the staff just loved them and the kids club were great.
The weather was fantastic there was only one day of winds that we needed just to cool down.
All in all this was a fantastic holiday the pools were great and the massage was awesome. I would reccomend this resort to all people from all walks of life and will be going again.

i was a 10 yr old who went with my older sister my mum and my dad to plantation resort in january we stayed in a garden view room interconnecting room closest to the room after booking a two bedroom villa we had a great time and did heaps of snorkelling but i would suggest bringing your own snorkel like my family did the second time we went in september as the one we hired for free always leaked. A great thing to do as me and my family did is to just go out for kayak rides not knowing were you going but having a great time the kayaks and lifejackets where in great condition when we used them. the sea there is amazingly clear and full of fish and starfish just a couple of steps in plus lots of great shells we were lucky enough to find some clam shells. One of our ten days my mum and sister went to shell village brought heaps of great shells but when it was time to go the boat left without them but they got spotted and it came back the food there wasnt that great it was limited choice for dinner but the breakfast was great and a bit advice when they have the fijian night be careful what you try because some of it is for more adventourous people all and all it was great holiday with a lovely clean room nice pools and beaches
