Plantation Island Resort

We had ups and downs in our experience here.
We choose this time of the year (June) cause its not their wet season but oh my, there was a cyclone watch. Weather caused flash flooding, i know the weather is out of anyones control but it did limit the outdoor fun we had. Even though it rained alot it was still hot & humid. Still on the days that the sun was shining the suroundings were beautiful, felt like paradise.
The food was very average and we even got a stomach bug on the island, my 18 month old son was bitten all over his body by sand flies, not sure if they were in the cot or on the beach. Staff werent as friendly as the other resorts we stayed at however when the water pipe burst, they immediately moved us. We styed in a stuido garden bure. The rooms are definately run down & i think all the bathroom in the studio garden bures should be refurbished. I would highly recommend a beachfront bure, they are so much nicer.
The resort does have a fantastic kids club & heaps of activities for adults & children all day every day, that was great. Night entertainment was great but please put the music down at say 10-11pm. We didn't even have a bure next to the shed & we were kept up half the night cause the dj music was so loud & drunks walking back to their room making a lot of noise. We had a couples massage and it was the best massage ive ever had.
All in all, its a great holiday desitnation on a tight budget, i would go back but change a few thing next time & wait until our kids are at least 5 years old or older.

Had such a wonderful holiday last year went back again this year just returned and it was even better than last year . The staff were just as welcoming as they were last year. The smiles and love and laughter and memory of the staff on Plantation Island is truly amazing such a wonderful time was had my all. The food was fantastic and improvement on last year which was great some new Bures been built and some more in the process stayed on the pool side of island nearer the supermarket this time and it to was also great. Had lots of things to do in evenings for both kids and adults happy hour and different activities going on at main restaurant bar along with a disco/ live band a few nights a week which I must say the band was brilliant had lots of fun dancing .The rooms we were in a bit tired and need doing up but still perfectly acceptable and comfortable and clean roam wasn't built in day and they will get done . Cost wise it was roughly the same very good price no increase in 12 months which is great for our family of 6 4 adults and 2 children age 13 and 14. Was very sad to leave the island have made some life long friends there in staff and other visting families . Love all the staff so much truly wonderful people . Can not wait to go back next year hopefully :)

Room Tip: Have stayed both sides of Island and both sides the rooms were great so any would be fine in my opin...

Having just spent two weeks at Plantation we have had the best Holiday, The food is plain but absolutely fine, we travelled with two teens who had a ball, the loved the snorkelling pools and activities.Micheal is great and every evening there is something to keep adults and kids entertained, The staff are amazing and bowed to our every need. Service can be slow but its a busy resort and remember you are on Fiji time. The new Boat shed and snack bar are great. The snorkelling was amazing. Thanks Plantation we will be back !!!! Special mentions to Thomasi, Oscar, Richie and Micheal and those wonderful girls at the Coco Hut.

We had a good time overall, but the meals were very average and at breakfast all the yummy things like bacon would keep running out!! Rooms were fine as long as you expect 3 star!! They are spacious enough which is good for kids! Just terrible water!! Honestly I was scared the water was contaminated with sewerage!! Hard to wash baby bottles, dummies etc! Cocktails were yummy but sometimes took 30 minutes to get one! Pools were nice and overall activities were great! Nanny service really good too! If you get the meal package try to go to the anandas retaurant as you get 45 per adult credit there!! Much nicer mels and service!

Room Tip: Get a poolside or one of the ones close to the ocean!!

A warm, friendly, clean, fun environment for families at a reasonable price. Would probably go stir crazy if had stayed longer than a week but did enjoy every relaxing moment spent pool side and beach side. Food and drink was aplenty, a safe, fun and welcoming environment, kids got to be kids, a great escape from the stressful fast paced city life of Sydney.

We travelled to fiji with our son and another family. Loved every moment of it. It was our third time back with the last trip before this one was 10 years ago. Sure it's not five star but you can't beat the beach, plus a five star will cost double if not triple. Our garden bure was clean and comfortable. Last year we stayed at a four star island and whilst the room was a bit more updated, Plantation Island beats it. This year we also stayed at at five star at Denaru Island and were disappointed as nothing beats an island beach. Sure the food on Plantation Island may seem the same day in day out at the buffet, however there are other options. I would like to say a special thank you to Dioni at reception as she made our stay even more special from the time that she met us at the port. If you need assistance, see Dioni at reception.

Miss you plantation Island, see you soon.

Pleasantly surprised after reading some not so good reviews. Travelled as a family of 4 with 2 boys 5 and 3. Fabulous location with the beach and easy snorkelling the main highlights for us. The boys enjoyed the kids club and the babysitting service is inexpensive and very good. Yes the resort is undergoing some renovations at the moment which means construction noise at various places throughout the day but you could avoid it easily enough. Food was much better than expected so I'd say the new chef is doing well and they were very helpful with my need for a gluten free diet (pancakes made just for me were yummy). All in all we had a wonderful holiday and are considering going back next year - perhaps booking a beachfront bure next time.

Room Tip: Will look to book a beachfront bure in the 200's next time
