“Spectacular!”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Just recently returned from a wonderful stay at Liku Liku Resort for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We arrived late afternoon (just the 2 of us) to be greeted by a laughing, singing & smiling group of resort staff. Such a great way to arrive and be welcomed to the resort. I know this is a general reception at most resorts in Fiji but these guys were pretty enthusiastic!

We were then escorted around the resort facilities whilst our bags were whisked away to our Deluxe Beachfront Bure. The Bure was gorgeous - huge, well appointed (great stereo/i-pod dock) and most importantly with a plunge pool. This was the best feature as it afforded us the best of both worlds - pool or ocean? Although we didn't stay in an over water Bure I did think the Deluxe Beachfront looked far better in terms of size and location. It was quite a walk from the over water Bures to the rest of the Resort & restaurant.

Now the food......we were blown away by the quantity, quality & variety. Aurelie in particular (F&B Manager) was so lovely. Her service was excellent as were the other restaurant team. I found them to be very attentive, anticipating when our water or drinks needed topping up & clearing empty plates quickly. We rarely had to ask for anything and the gap between courses was perfectly timed. Plus they made the BEST Mai Tai's in Fiji.

No room service which was fine by us - much nicer to sit in the restaurant. They did however deliver snacks and drinks to the room upon request. Very handy and surprisingly very quick. I ordered tonic waters for some G&T's and these were delivered in about 10mins along with a plate full of freshly sliced lime. Beware the fresh chocolate chip cookies in the room though - very addictive & topped up each day!!

Overall the Resort staff were so friendly and were genuinely happy to see us each day. They made us feel quite special. We also organised a dive which was really good - nice professional set up with the dive operator used. The Resort had a little food, water & towel package ready to go when we arrived - felt a bit spoilt when the other divers looked at what we had!!

The rest of our days were spent sitting in our plunge pool, sipping champagne and staring out at the beautiful setting. Unfortunately it all came to an end far too quickly. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Liku Liku Resort, yes it's expensive but so worth it for a special occasion.

To top things off, I also realised I had left my prescription glasses behind in the room when we arrived back home. I e-mailed the Resort only to be advised the Porter had checked our room before taking our luggage. He had noticed my glasses on the bedside table and tucked them into a side pocket of my bag. So grateful to him for checking. Cannot wait to go back to our island home.....

Room Tip: Deluxe Beachfront with plunge pool is a must. We stayed in Bure 17 which felt very private and had...

We stayed here for our Honeymoon and such an amazing time! We stayed for around 8 days so had no option to be relaxed. The staff were truly exceptional and nothing was a problem. The food was an absolute stand out. The quality and quantity were great! 10/10 for the food, spa, overwater bure, staff etc. the snorkling was great too and all non motorised sports were free so we got in and did them all. Will be coming back next year!!

The accomodations, facilities, and staff lived up to my high expectations. The downside to our stay was in the arranging of the activities. I tried to pre-arrange scuba and surfing, as we were only staying for 3 nights. My contact said the resort does not pre-arrange, but assured me that it would not be a problem as activities are booked at arrival. The activities discussion was not part of the arrival "routine" and we spent a lot of time and energy proactively arranging things, especially surfing. The staff went above and beyond to accomodate our requests. The surfing price listed on the Activities sheet available on the resort's website does not include the price of using a surf board. Also be aware: surf at your own risk. Contrary to prior explanations, we were taken to surf spots that dangerously exceeded my husband's abilities, and luckily we used our own judgement to not surf, even when those who had taken us out for the trip suggested he jump in the water and give it a try. They didn't even have their own boards for rescue purposes - which luckily was not necessary. Very dangerous and very disappointing, and a waste of money.

My husband treated me to an Island getaway for my 50th. Upon arriving at Liku Liku, it felt like a dream, way beyond what I'd imagined. We were escorted to the restaurant whilst the staff organised our luggage. After a 3 course meal we were taken to our Deluxe beachfront bure which was gorgeous as we had a dip pool overlooking the ocean. The staff were so friendly, we never had a problem with the service. Liku Liku in my mind is the ultimate romantic getaway, the food is amazing and varies each day, the location if perfect and most importantly the staff are just gorgeous, on the night of my birthday they sang Happy Birthday in their unique upbeat way, some of the other guests also sang, it was truly a very special night and one I will never forget. We snorkeled, kayaked, swam, ate and drank, which is my ideal way to relax. If you would prefer something a little more energetic, like us you could walk over the other side of the Island to Malolo resort, as it's a family resort they have a few more activities which is great, however, we prefered the quiet of Liku Liku. Waking up each morning to the beautiful view was amazing. I would higly recommend the resort if you are looking for something special. It certainly took the edge off turning 50, not so bad after all. Thanks to everyone at Liku Liku for making our experience so wonderful. Karen L.

We treated ourselves to Likuliku for our honeymoon and my 40th birthday for a 7 nights stay. Having read a lot of reviews prior we were looking forward to going to this beautiful resort. We stayed in the deluxe beachfront bure for our first three nights and the overwater bungalow for the rest of the time. The resort is very pricey and so you would expect the best of everything. I have to agree with Shoper77's review that indeed the resort itself is stunning but was let down by the little things. Here are some examples of what is good and the not so good:

The Not So Good:
• Early morning speed boat ferrying the staff from the resort to their village which starts as early as 6am which goes pass the overwater bungalows until as late as 11.30pm. The noise from these boats were extremely loud and they travel very close to our bungalow. We didn't pay big bucks to get woken up every morning at 6am when we are supposed to be on holiday! The resort needs to mention this in some way so that other guest can take this into account when choosing between the different types of accommodation on offer or change the time of the boats.
• Food & service - was average but it was nothing to rave about. In fact we expected much better from all the reviews we've read. This could also be due to the change in chefs recently. The hot breakfast we ordered i.e. eggs always came out cold as if it has been sitting on the bench for a while before being brought out to us. What you ordered was never what was described on the breakfast menu, it was always missing an item. Service was always slow and inconsistent. We had to ask for napkins many times and it always took at least 20mins to get one.
• Chef's canapé - the quality & presentation of this was extremely poor considering it was call "Chef's canapé" - one time we got a plate of smoke salmon and a couple of cherry tomatoes next to it, even a child could put that together let alone a renowned chef! Another time it was a slap of cheese with crackers. For the price we paid to stay in the overwater bungalow this was a letdown.
• Honeymoon Island excursion - at the time of booking we were never told that the tide would be out and so we couldn't do any snorkelling. The resort needs to time the excursions to coincide as much as possible to high tide. I know sometimes this is not possible but it would be good to have been advise at the time of booking. The picnic lunch on offer was a disappointment.
• Hand line fishing trip - we went on this excursion and was taken out to a couple of spots by one of the staff. What was disappointing was that the staff member was rude and was focus on fishing for himself and not helping us out at all as we had told him it was our first time. He even said that the other group he took out the previous day talked too much when we asked him some questions to hint for us not to disturb his fishing.

The Good:
• Deluxe beachfront bure - these are just gorgeous, spacious and well kept. We didn't find the plunge pool to be cold at all and having the beach right there was convenient and the outdoor shower was great.
• Overwater bungalow # 2 - these bungalows are beautiful with stunning views of the water and number 2 was especially so as it was on the end and had the best snorkelling spot. A shame this was spoilt by the early morning/late night speed boats going pass!
• No kids policy - this is fantastic as it made for a very relaxing and quiet time unlike other resorts that allow kids. One of the reasons we choose the resort.
• Location/Resort - absolutely beautiful and just the right size so that you could always find a sun lounger by the pool and feel that you have the place to yourself.
• Staff - generally the staff were very friendly and seem to be happy with their jobs apart from the staff that took us out to the Honeymoon Island.

We did have a lovely stay despite the letdowns but next time we wouldn't pay the 5 star bucks to stay here as it is only 4 star resort.

Room Tip: Overwater bungalow number 2 and deluxe beach bure number 39

we spent 3 amazing days at this resort, the food was delicious, the service the best, views OMG can not wait to go back - I read many reviews on trip advisor before booking our birthday holiday, we spent 3 days here then 3 days at Royal Davui, there is simply no comparison. everyone at Likuliku knew your name, always said a Huge Bula. sang birthday song to my husband and even to me on the morning of our departure as my birthday was the following day.
we used south seas to get to the resort, and Island Helicopter to go back to the main land, definetly the ONLY way to get back and forth. I wish we had spend our whole trip at this resort

We wanted to really spoil ourselves for our special anniversary and came up with Likuliku. We loved the thought of an over the water bungalow. It didn't disappoint us...right from the moment we stepped on to the jetty, we knew we had chosen well. The friendly service, the beautiful tropical environment and of course, the food, reinforced our desire to have "the ultimate island gettaway experience". The bungalow itself was dreamy and romantic with water views from every room. The bath was a highlight...sipping champagne and nibbling prawns while gazing out into the sunset...what dreams are made of. Snorkelling straight off our bungalow kept us busy several times a day. The fish varieties just blew us away...Nemo was a favourite. Thank you Likuliku for giving us an incredible lifetime memory.
