We arrived at Likuliku in early February, right after Cyclone Gene passed through. The staff was working hard cleaning up the debris and making needed repairs. We had a beach bure that felt like our own little piece of paradise. We were greeted with a “Welcome, home” from the staff, and by the end of our stay it truly felt like our home. The over-water bures and the Masima Island Bar were closed when we arrived due to the storm, but reopened prior to our departure. The chef is to be commended for the preparation and presentation of the food, and we looked forward to each meal like it was an adventure. The service in the restaurant was outstanding, and the Reception staff went out of their way to insure our every need was met. Our bure was immaculately cleaned each day. Each evening when we returned from dinner, the room was filled with the aroma of tropical flowers from a lighted oil lamp and the relaxing sounds of Café Del Mar playing on the music system. By day, we spent many hours on the daybed just relaxing and reading and enjoying the sounds of the ocean. Each afternoon around four o’clock, a bucket of ice and freshly baked cookies were delivered to our bure. The staff always made us feel so special, and we made many new friends among both staff and fellow guests. It was difficult to leave Likuliku without a few tears in our eyes, but we hope to return again to the place in Fiji we call “home.”

likuliku resort fiji
7days,january 2008
mark and donna,central coast nsw

from the first minute to the final few moments at likuliku,i felt as though i never wanted to leave.the staffs friendliness and dedication to ensuring that our stay was how we wanted it to be,never waned.the sundrenched,palm-lined vista that greated us on our arrival barely wavered for the whole week we were there, sunshine and blue skies, with occassional late but brief tropical downpour.the food was sensational and kept you wondering what could possibly be next,as we sipped our pre-dinner cocktails over looking the glowing sunset.
now for the "buts". after having read other peoples experiences with overwater bures and bures that have no privacy ,i can fully reccomend the standard bures[without plunge pool] as these bures must have been built first and have established gardens affording plenty of privacy.but if you must have an overwater bure, dont complain about low tide, just use the pool.the view from the pool is stunning
i was keen to do a bit of fishing in fiji ,but i feel $140/hr to go trolling[read drive aimlessly around the ocean] was to expensive.instead i walked to the next beach and did some flyfishing for trevally and barracuda, and was mildly sccessful.
as far as surfing is concerned, dont bother taking your surfboard.there is surf at cloudbreak and wilkes passage 25mins away by boat, but the expense and drama to get there is just not worth it.
if you want a peaceful and tranquil getaway in classic tropical surrondings without kids screeming and jumping in the pool [no one jumps or splashes in the pool at likuliku] and you can justify the expense, then likuliku is for you

My husband and I scuba dive and always dreamed of going to Fiji. For our honeymoon, we did a lot of research to find the perfect hotel. Likuliku was not even complete when we booked our honeymoon.

Every week the staff sent us photos of the progress. When we arrived we were greeted by name, given a cold towel, and the best glass of iced tea ever.

The service was phenomenal. We were greeted by name by all staff members. The staff asked about our daily plans and remember what we had said.

The accomodations were unbelievable. Impecably clean. So romantic. We received anything we needed within minutes.

The food was amazing. The chef and his team created delicious meals using local fare.

The staff was so friendy. We knew everyone by name by the time we left. We spent our evenings talking, drinking, and singing with the staff. I cried the day we left. It was like leaving your family.

If we ever return to Fiji, we will most certainly visit our family at Likuliku.

I discovered the Likuliku Lagoon resort by accident. We have been travelling around the world and wanted to stay a week in Fiji to break up our long trip home. I found the Likuliku resort on the internet. It has only been open for 9 months and caters for adults only. It has over water burres (pronounced boorays) and deluxe beachfront and beachfront burres. We opted for an 8 night stay in a deluxe beachfront. It was awesome. Built using local products, it is all polished wood and palm tree beams lashed together using materials from the coconut trees. Huge square footage makes for a very comfortable stay. Outside you have your own plunge pool, which has spa bubbles and a day bed. Pure bliss.

We arrived by seaplane, transferred to a small boat from the hotel that was waiting and alighted on to the pontoon to a welcome song from the staff. We felt really special. From that day to the last, nothing was too much trouble. You are greeted by your first names by all the staff and they take time to find out about you. Their smiles lift your heart every day.

The hotel has a fantastic chef, who at the moment comes from Australia. Each mealtime was a delight of 3 well thought out courses. Delicious. It is a very quiet place with free non motorised activities but waterskiing and jet boating is available for a charge. You can do interesting walks, the medicine walk, the sacred sites walk etc, but do that in the morning as there are some steep climbs.

We spent the days lazing around the infinity pool. Sunbeds are set out at a discrete distance from other guests. Although, due to the fact that the hotel has a maximum of 90 guests, (35 - 50 when we were there), you are never on top of anyone else.

We had the most wonderful time and made some great friends. We can highly recommend it to couples, whether you are first/second honeymooners or a couple just needing to rewind and have some first class r&r.

On the day we left, we walked down the pontoon to get the seaplane and several members of staff ran down to wave us off and sing songs. They were still waving as the seaplane took off. I had tears streaming down my face. Definitely a hard place to leave, especially as we are from the UK and it is so far away. However, we are planning another trip to NZ in 4 - 5 years time and will definitely go back to Likuliku again.

Vinaka Vaka Velu to all the staff at Likuliku and Morce for now.

We booked our stay at Likuliku before the resort even opened - and our blind faith paid off. I have never stayed at a more unbelievable place. Likuliku was, from start to finish, pure perfection.

I haven't traveled around Fiji much, but I've stayed at a fair share of island resorts and Likuliku was the absolute best. The food was out of this world - fresh and local, and the service was beyond impeccable - all the staff were so kind, hospitable, quick to respond to any request. We also spent a bit of time with the general manager, who could not have been more gracious.

Our days were heaven: eating glorious food, kayaking or snorkeling, napping on the day bed, and just loving every second.

It's true that there are nicer beaches elsewhere in the world, but we didn't go for the beach but for the accommodations (which were stellar). I also thought we had a very very high level of privacy and never felt intruded on.

A couple recommendations - get a massage with Scott (best I've ever had!). Also, I though the deluxe beachfront bures were definitely worth the extra cash, for the daybed and plunge pool. I even liked them more than the overwater. And don't miss Likuliku. I could not have had a more perfect honeymoon.
