“Very Nice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

First time in Fiji and chose 2 island resorts based on availability. Malolo island resort was superb. With 2 kids - 5 and 7yo- it provided endless fun. My boys did not even go to kids club. We participated in activities that kids club held eg coral viewing and turtle viewing.
The a la carte menu was incredibly good. My boys had the meal plans and the dinner variety was abundant. We extended our stay from 3 nights to 5 because we decided to delay trip to Suva where it was raining.
The service was impeccable.
staff from garden maintenance , restaurant, front office, music entertainers, house keeping, watersports etc etc - cannot fault anyone. They really go an extra mile.
Maria front office supervisor was my hero.
THank you thank u thanku

Beautiful place, ideal for families. Stayed here with our toddler and had a wonderful time. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bures were beautiful and spotlessly clean, lovely to relax in. The pool was clean and both the adults and kids pool were great. Food was unfortunately a bit hit and miss at times, particularly at the beach bar. Some meals were good (dinner at Terrace restaurant, a couple of dinner buffets) but others just average. We had the breakfast/dinner meal plan which we probably wouldn't do next time as we didn't get full value from it. Overall a fabulous place which we didn't want to leave, and already we're talking about when we can go back! Highly recommended.

My husband and i went stayed at malolo for our honeymoon at the end of october. Couldnt have picked a better spot!
Reading reviews before we left had me worried about how many kids might be there.. but you dont even notice as the kids club is seperate and there is an adult only pool. We went out on the boat to go snorkelling off the reef but the snorkelling on the beach is just as good if not better! was so nice to sit at the beach bar and be looked after with 5 star service, or grab a kayak! The menu in the tree tops restaurant changes everynight aswell which is great! And BUG free!!!! didnt see one bug at all!!! You need to wear insect repellant coz of the mozzies but thats it! Excellent rooms and so clean! Everywhere you go you get a friendly "Bula" from the people that work there. The Day spa is AMAZING and really well priced too. I reccomend doing a private dinner on the jetty aswell, simply amazing! Its great coz you dont need to carry money, you can charge everything to your room and pay with AUD when you leave by credit card! Its going to be very hard to stay anywhere else in Fiji now coz i cant imagine it getting any better than that! will be back one day for sure.

We stayed here from 26th Oct to 2nd November, we would have stayed longer but the resort was fully booked, and what a shame! We would have loved to have stayed on. We travelled with 2 children, boy 11, girl 7.

We were greeted by the staff singing and playing beautifully, and a hearty BULA!! which really set the mood for the whole trip, what a warm friendly welcome! A cool drink and cloth and an induction/tour didn't take long, unfortunately the check in to the room wasn't for a few hours, but we just changed in the bathrooms and went straight to the pools.

The pools are lovely, although there is an adults only pool, we spent most of the time in the kids pool with the kids, we only went in the adults pool a couple of times when the kids were at kids club, and the cocktails are lovely ;)

There are plenty of organised activities, our son loved the beach volleyball/touch rugby/egg throwing and crab racing. Our daughter liked the art/crafts in the kids club, and getting her hair braided (although it took a couple of goes to get it finished, SO many braids!!)

No TV or XBOX or internet..I thought we might have a few issues with the kids over it, but once they were in the pool they were thrilled.

The dolphis safari is well worth the trip, we saw a school of 50+ dolphins, and they swam right by the boat and leaped out of the water. Banana boat is great fun too.

The rooms are beautiful. Not sure why they're called ocean view, they're only 10m from the beach!

i love that this resort isn't crowded, and all the staff know your name by the second day. The staff here make the resort so special. A very special bula to Kali, Sekove, Moses, and Freddy. What a great team.

The only downside was that our son was probably the oldest child at the resort for most of the week, so while he enjoyed going to kids club, he didn't have anyone his own age to play with until a day before we left when a couple of other 10-12 year olds arrived. Can't be helped, and he still had fun.

The food was really good. Not 5 star but absolutely lovely and fresh anyway. Meals are cheap, and cocktails cheaper! Got to try the Malolo Sunrise, Angry Fijian and Rose BonBon, just 3 of my 15 favourites!!

Honestly, we've never had an experience like Malolo, we spent the last 2 days at the Hilton before returning home, and while it was nice, it just wasn't Malolo.

I cried when we left Malolo and the staff sang their goodbye song as they waved us off.....it felt like leaving family.

We met quite a few families who travelled to Malolo each year, they'd tried other resorts but just loved Malolo. So do we. We'll be back

Room Tip: We were in Bure 2, which was a great position, not too far from anything. The rooms from 20 up are...

We arrived at Malolo after spending an evening in a horrible 'hotel' in Nadi. It had been dirty, hot, sweaty and smoky, and being our first trip to Fiji, we desperately hoped that Malolo would be different. And how different it was!

We were greeted at the end of the jetty by a large group of staff singing a welcome song and playing ukeleles and guitars. My two small children were excited to receive a shell necklace, and we we taken down to the beach bar for our orientation and form filling in. A welcome cocktail and cold wash cloth was bliss for our sweaty selves. Already we could see how stunning the resort was, and how attentive to detail the staff were.

Our bure was absolutely stunning. Freshly decorated, spacious, prefect for our small family. We were in a deluxe ocean view bure. It had a large bathroom, and two separate sleeping areas so that grown ups and kids were able to do their own things. We were especially impressed with the standard of cleanliness and the twice daily servicing. The resort have a turn down service in the early evening so that the lights are on and the beds are ready when you get back from dinner. It was a such a welcoming sight to walk back along the beach in the dark and see your bure all ready for bed time.

We chose to get a breakfast and dinner meal package, which for us worked very well. The breakfast buffet was huge, and we stuffed ourselves full to last throughout the day, then were hungry enough to enjoy the full three courses at dinner time. We took snacks with us for the kids throughout the day, and the beach bar had some great snacking options, very reasonably priced (on par with cafe prices in Aus) for when we felt peckish. We found the beach bar food in general to be tastier and fresher than the food at the Terrace restaurant, but really, the food was of a high quality throughout. There was nothing lovelier than enjoying a crisp pizza or tasty treat while sitting in the beach bar as the sun set, the children playing together in the sand in front. Very relaxing.

We had two children under kids club age, so we didn't use those services much. We found that Ala and the ladies at the kids club were more that happy to have our children join in and we sat up there when the rain came. They had a large range of activities and trips on offer, and our kids had a ball. The staff had a warm and friendly manner, effortlessly remembering all the children's names and including them in any activity. We did utilise the babysitting service, and one of the resort staff took our two for a couple of hours so we could spend some couple time. They went in and out of kids club, went for walks, got food and played with other children. We never had any qualms about our kids safety or happiness.

In terms of activities, I wish we had stayed longer so that we could have done everything! The snorkelling from just outside our door was astounding, an incredible variety of fish and sea life just waiting to be explored. They offered kayaks, paddle boards, catamarans and jet skis from the beach, and many other outside trips both adventurous and cultural. Every day there were activities at the resort too. We watched coconut husking demonstration , flower necklace making, crab racing events, trivia and games nights, and were included in a kava ceremony. We never felt bored or short of activities to to do. We were also lucky enough to have a special boat trip planned just for us, as our coral watching trip had been cancelled due to weather 2 days in a row. We were very keen to take the kids out to see the reef as they were too small for snorkelling, and when the resort manager Marion found this out, she worked out a special trip for us in the early morning on the day we left.

It was sad to leave Malolo, it blew our expectations out of the water. We couldn't have had a better first trip to Fiji, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing family holiday.

Vinaka Malolo for blessing this family with the an experience we will never forget!

Can't recommend this resort enough. The staff were friendly, and always willing to help out. Rooms were clean, and it was a welcome change to go some where without tv's and all the gadgets so the kids couldn't spend all the time watching tv. Saying that the kids club was fab and my little girl who is 4, went without hesitation every day and evening. Babysitting service was excellent and you were allocated the same lady every evening. Facilities were great. Would say its a definitely a resort for families. Only warning is surface on pool bit rough and quite a few cuts and grazes occurred.

When you hear this arriving anywhere, it is a big promise, but also a challenge. Malolo managed to fulfill the promise 100% and beside the location, people make the difference. Dedicated and friendly staff could teach colleagues from all over the world how to deal with guests.
The beach is amazing, pristine and about 10-15m away from your bure (tip - we had a bure close enough to the Beach Bar with some WiFi access), food (especially a la carte) is outstanding, we ate mostly at the Terrace as it tends to be quieter at lunch time.
Watching sea life from the jetty around 7 AM became a little ritual.
Water activities are varied, our oldest son took a boat early in the morning to surf at Cloudbreak with people from other resorts, the younger ones tried hand line fishing, paddle board was also a favourite, trekking in the surroundings is also a possibility, though you do no get very far.
Overall a tremendous experience.

Room Tip: Bures close to the Beach Bar are in the middle of things, for absolute calm you may wish to be furth...
